It is with such sadness that I announce the passing of one of our Russian tortoises, Diego.
Diego came to us about 6 years ago as a full grown male of an unknown age. He was found in the road with many shell marks, both old and newer, from what was probably a dog that used him as a chew toy for years. They healed so well you would hardly know he had a rough go of things. I named him Diego because it just seemed to fit him. No one claimed him, and I fell in love with his little old man personality. He loved dandelions and collards, despised when I made him soak, and couldn't pass up a good occasional romaine snack on a hot summer day. He and I became good buds, and I'm sure going to miss him. We aren't sure if old age played a part, but he passed a couple days ago while I was gone on vacation. We will bury him in the yard tomorrow with our other reptile family members we have been lucky enough to love with all our hearts. ♥️🐢
We will miss you Gogo.
