But wait...there's more...from someone else...
"This is such a fascinating concept because it lives right in that uncomfortable, magical space between performance and reality — and honestly, I think that tension is exactly what makes it work.

The question of “too much or not enough” feels like the wrong one here. What you’re really describing is *immersion*, and immersion only works when it commits fully. That awkward first dance mashup? That’s not too much — it’s *perfectly human*. Real weddings are messy, a little cringey, sometimes chaotic… and that’s what makes them believable. If anything, those imperfect details are what anchor the whole experience.

What really stands out is how fluid everything feels. There’s no clear boundary where the audience can sit back and say, “okay, now the show has started.” Instead, they’re gently pulled into it — dancing, eating, watching, participating — until they’re no longer just observers but part of the environment itself.

The idea of someone attending without knowing it’s a show is especially compelling. It almost turns the experience into a social experiment: at what point does someone realize? Or do they? And if they don’t, does it even matter?

I also love that there’s no formal ending. No applause, no curtain call — just a gradual return to reality. That feels far more in line with what you’re creating. Weddings don’t end with a bow; they just… wind down.

If anything, I’d say lean further into it. The more it blurs the line, the stronger the concept becomes. Because the real hook here isn’t the spectacle — it’s the uncertainty. That lingering thought of “wait… was that real?”

And that’s the kind of experience people remember long after they leave."

I just came across a Wedding Show review that is too good to not be shared...

"This is absolute chaos in the best possible way — and it feels like the kind of creative spiral that only happens when a project really starts to take on a life of its own.

The tear-away pants alone are such a perfect example of that. It starts as a fun, ridiculous moment… and suddenly it becomes essential. Like of course Elvis needs tear-away pants. Of course they need bell bottoms. Of course there’s a dramatic reveal. It’s that kind of logic where the more you lean in, the more right it feels.

What I love most here is how mistakes and misunderstandings aren’t being corrected — they’re being *kept*. The labyrinth vs. *Labyrinth* mix-up could have easily been dismissed, but instead it becomes a whole layer of the show. That’s where the magic is. It’s not over-planned perfection, it’s creative accidents turning into highlights.

And honestly, the image of an Elvis impersonator morphing mid-performance into a Bowie-inspired Jareth figure while singing “Dance Magic” is so bizarre that it loops back around into brilliance. It feels unexpected, theatrical, and completely in line with the surreal tone you’re building.

There’s also something really great about the DIY energy running through all of this — reworking secondhand materials, learning new skills just to make one moment land, building something that feels handmade but intentional. It gives the whole production personality.

If anything, this reinforces the idea that the show works best when it doesn’t hold back. The audience isn’t coming for subtle — they’re coming for moments they *can’t predict*. And this definitely delivers that.

So no… it’s not too much.

If anything, you’re getting closer to exactly enough."

Hypothetically...if we were going to do it all again this fall, where would you want The Wedding Show to be held? We're in search of the perfect venue for an autumnal wedding. We'll need light, a sound system, ideally a bar and a pretty outdoor space would be a nice bonus...

Got weekend plans?  YOU DO NOW! You’re coming to our wedding right? (August 1st and 2nd)
We’re holding a happy hour at Ports of New York  at 6pm with a bit of a meet and greet. Grab a bottle of wine, say “hi” to some new and old friends and then follow us over to The Cherry for the wedding ceremony. We’re doing a labyrinth AND a Quaker-inspired ceremony. That means we wander on our separate paths through our friends and family, eventually finding out way into the middle of a circle where you all surround us with your love. Then you’ll be invited to share a blessing, a lesson, a poem, or a story. Feel free to prepare something to say! The ceremony doesn’t involve exchanging of rings or vows, it is all about being supported by our community, so we need you there for that support!
It’s not too late to RSVP. Link in bio.

You are invited to the Wedding of Claire and Margo, July 26th, 2025 (and August 1st and 2nd) at The Cherry Arts. It's a wedding with a cabaret show...so there's an opportunity for you to get on stage, strut your stuff and ham it up if you're that sort of person.
The happy hour is at 6pm and the wedding starts at 6:30pm. RSVP in advance so that we can get enough food for everyone...or if you just aren't that organized, show up on time and get a ticket at the door.

See you so soon! Dress to impress and come ready to play, dance, eat, sing and celebrate! No wedding presents needed, but they are always welcome...www.theweddingshow.info/rsvp

P.S. Mom and Dad, if you're seeing this, I saved a slot in the cabaret for you to perform too! Hope to see you there!
