Your commitment and the funds raised directly impact our 2022 Grant Cycle and the amount of money available to fund critical research, education, and outreach for women’s s*xual health. Last year, because of our generous sponsors and our committed hosts, we were able to grant over $235,000 to:

Grant Title: The impact of overactive bladder treatment on s*xual dysfunction: a comparative study
Overactive bladder (OAB) can affect 10-20% of the population and its impact on s*xuality is multifold. Little is currently known about the impact of treatment of OAB and s*xual dysfunction. The goal of this study is to gain a better understanding of third-line treatment for OAB (intradetrussor onabotulinumtoxin, and neuromodulation on s*xual function), so that clinicians can better advise their patients and provide realistic discussions concerning expectations following surgery.
Society of Gynecologic Surgeons
Grant Title: Randomized Control Trial of Postoperative Return to Sexual Activity (PoRS)
The goal of pelvic reconstructive surgery is the relief of symptoms and improvement in quality-of-life considerations, including s*xual function. Sexual experiences after surgery can be associated with pain, discomfort, and apprehension. Little is known about how to counsel patients about their first encounter post-surgical healing. This research group will develop a standardized counseling tool for post pelvic reconstructive surgery.
Society of Gynecologic Surgeons
Grant Title: A randomized controlled trial of Vulvar fractionated CO2-Laser therapy with and without concomitant topical clobetasol propionate 0.05% ointment for treatment of Vulvar lichen sclerosus (the VuLVie Trial)
Lichen Sclerosis (LS) is a chronic skin condition that can affect many areas of the body, including the vulvar region. The dermatological illness leads to pain, discomfort, s*xual dysfunction, and considerable emotional and personal distress. The chronic and often progressive nature of this illness had marked effects on a woman’s overall s*xual health, as well as quality of life. A gold standard randomized trial will help elucidate the superior treatment paradigm- whether it is medication and laser (combined treatment) or laser and placebo (CO2 laser alone).
