For the first time in many years, we will not be holding the Texas Arts & Crafts Fair this season. So much of our campus was deeply impacted by the flood, and the damage we sustained has made it impossible for us to safely and successfully host the event this year.

This was not an easy decision. The Texas Arts & Crafts Fair has been a beloved tradition for artists, patrons, volunteers, and families across the Hill Country and beyond, and we know many of you look forward to it every year just as much as we do.

But while the Fair is paused, HCAF is still here.

Our art gallery continues to host smaller events and exhibits, and while both of our theatres sustained significant damage, our theatre program is continuing in smaller ways as we work toward recovery. This summer, our campus will still be filled with creativity and laughter through art, theatre, pirate, and dance day camps for kids. Every class, camp, exhibit, and gathering is another step toward rebuilding what was lost.

We are actively working on exciting rebuild plans, and we fully intend for the Texas Arts & Crafts Fair to return when we are able to bring it back in the way this community deserves.

To everyone who has supported us, volunteered, donated, attended events, sent encouragement, or simply continued to believe in HCAF during this difficult season — thank you. Your support is helping us rebuild not just buildings, but a place where art, creativity, and community continue to thrive.

We appreciate you sticking with us. The future of HCAF is still bright, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back to the Fair again soon.

There is a unique kind of compassion that comes from people who truly understand what disaster and recovery feel like firsthand.

That’s why we are especially moved and deeply grateful to Asheville Community Theatre for their generous donation to support the flood recovery efforts at Hill Country Arts Foundation.

In 2024, Asheville and the surrounding Western North Carolina arts community were devastated by the historic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. Rivers overflowed, roads washed away, entire arts districts were submerged, and theatres and cultural organizations faced enormous damage and cancellations as their community fought to recover.

ACT themselves suffered major losses and disruptions following the storm. When the July 4 flood hit, they thought of us.

That kind of generosity means more than we can properly express. It is a reminder that theatre communities are bound together not just by art, but by empathy, resilience, and the belief that our spaces matter.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Asheville Community Theatre for thinking of us during this difficult chapter. Your kindness reminds us that even after the water recedes, community remains.
