In Loving Memory of Dolly Parton
January 19, 1946 – August 25, 2026

Today, we mourn the loss of a true American original.

Dolly Parton gave the world so much—her extraordinary music, her unmistakable humor, her generosity, and her remarkable gift for telling stories that made people feel seen, heard, and a little less alone.

Her songs have become part of our shared cultural fabric, and 9 to 5 remains a celebration of the resilience, humor, and determination of working people everywhere.

As Desert Theatreworks prepares to bring 9 to 5: The Musical to the stage this March, we do so with an even deeper appreciation for the woman whose creativity and spirit inspired this story.

Thank you, Dolly, for the songs, the laughter, the sparkle, and the heart. Your light will continue to shine every time your music plays and every time your stories take the stage.
