Big energy on Indy’s east side! 🎉🏀

We celebrated the grand opening of the brand‑new basketball courts at Grassy Creek Regional Park with our friends at the Pacers, and the day could not have been more vibrant. From food and games to giveaways and community fun, neighbors showed up and showed out!

The project features two incredible court designs: one brought to life by local artist Aby Cortes, blending cultural storytelling and Mexican heritage into a colorful work of art; the other showcasing the Pacers’ iconic pinstripes in a bold tribute to this season’s statement jerseys.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in kicking off this exciting new chapter for Grassy Creek. These courts are more than just a place to play. They’re a celebration of community, culture, and creativity.

Calling all young comic book fans! 💥🎨 Get ready to bring your imagination to life with Comic Canvas at Brookside Park Family Center! Starting October 13, join ArtMix teaching artist Christine Sterrett every Tuesday for six weeks of creativity, storytelling, and comic-book fun.

Kids ages 10–15 can create their own characters, design comics, and turn their ideas into stories. The best part? It’s completely FREE! Classes run from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Scan the QR code to register and get ready to create! ✏️📖

Whooo’s ready for Owl Fest? 🦉🍂 Eagle Creek Park is gearing up for a fun-filled weekend on October 17 and 18! Head over to the Ornithology Center for two days of activities, including owl pellet dissections, crafts, games, scavenger hunts, bird hikes and more!

You’ll also get the chance to see live owls, meet some of the park’s animal ambassadors and learn a little more about our feathered friends. Whether you're coming for the owls or just looking for something fun to do with the family this fall, there's something for everyone!

Festivities run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., with some activities starting earlier. We hope to see you there! 🍁

Get creative with us at Broad Ripple Park! 🎨 Join us this Saturday, October 10, from 12–2 p.m. for a painting class inspired by the imaginative artwork of Hieronymus Bosch! The class is open to ages 12 and up, costs $15 per person, and all materials are included. Register today using code 39417!

The 2027 Indy Parks proposed budget and passed budget fiscal will support park improvements and maintenance projects across the city next year. 40 basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts will see improvements along with a new playground at Rhodius Park and the renovation at Jack Butler Park, which will be the first park building in Decatur Township. The budget also includes a critical 20% increase in the department’s facility maintenance budget.

We've been fortunate to see a generation investment in new park amenities in recent years and this budget allows us to continue and expand that work!

What an honor it is to spend time with these two jewels every week at Frederick Douglass Park. Mr. Mryers (my left) is 94 yrs young and Mr. Brown (my right) will be 95 yrs young in October. They both consistently come to the center weekly to walk laps and participate in our exercise classes. They both still drive cars and their minds are really SHARP!

Come and see us! We will be hosting a table at the Original Farmer's Market in Indianapolis to answer questions about our facility and promoting programs and features of the facility. We will be at the market at these following dates:

May 27th, July 22, and September 9.

The market is located at 1 Monument Circle in the South half in Indianapolis.

We can't wait to see you there, come on out!

Trade screen time for paint time this Summer with the Painted Pose! These hands-on watercolor and acrylic sessions give participants space to create, build artistic skills, and explore traditional, time-honored materials in a positive setting.

This FREE painting class will give participants the opportunity to learn about both the Watercolor Experience and Acrylic Creative Experience. The first class is June 1st, sign up today and join the fun!
