May is observed as ALS Awareness Month in the United States, dedicated to raising funds, supporting families, and advancing research for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (often known as Lou Gehrig's disease). Members of our production team had the honor of attending an ALS event at the Indiana State House last week. Advocates, caregivers, and individuals living with ALS gathered to share testimonies, meet with lawmakers, and raise awareness for the neurodegenerative disease.
The cross stitch in the photo was hand-made by one of the beautiful souls in attendance living with ALS. We will have materials on hand at each performance to help raise awareness for ALS and will have a representative from ALS United Indiana connecting with our cast as well as being available to answer questions about ALS at select performances.
Tuesdays with Morrie is a story detailing the author’s visits to see his professor, Morrie, who was sentenced to death by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that targets the neurological system. Going up against the clock, the professor wanted to give his last class about “Life’. Both the teacher and the student agreed to meet every Tuesday where they discuss issues that most people are facing in their daily life.
Help us spread the word about this heartwarming story.
Performances are June 5-14 at Broadway United Methodist Church
