Just kidding, if you know Amy Orcutt von Eiff you know she would NEVER. A Cut Above knows how to spruce up a Labor Day cookout.
🌽 You need some type of bread so guests can eat with their hands, but we’re all tired of standard white bread buns. We serve smoked brisket on cornbread. It’s an Indiana classic.
🍔 Put down the 30 pack of frozen burger patties from Costco, people. Pulled pork is easy to make ahead of time – just let it sit in the slow cooker – so it’s hot when we serve it and you’re not nursing the grill. Go mingle with your friends! Burgers at a cookout are overdone.
🥗 Ah, the bagged iceburg lettuce salad. It’s easy – but lazy (and not nearly as nutritious as a fresh one). We like to make a creative, colorful salad with fresh ingredients, and it’s guaranteed to impress. See my rainbow chard!
🧀 Mac ‘n cheese is always a crowd pleaser. Tempting to use the box when you’re feeding a crowd, but with a little planning, we make a delicious homemade mac, spruce it up with a fun pasta shape, and throw in some add ons – bacon, sausage, broccoli, truffle oil - whatever your heart desires.
🍽️ I get it, paper plates are convenient and easy. But there are so many other fun (and disposable) ways to plate things, especially sides. We like to serve our cowboy caviar in cans! Very on-theme.
Wishing everyone a fun (and memorable) Labor Day celebration! Book your next elevated cookout with us: https://www.acutabovecatering.com/social
