A recent review that meant a lot — especially coming from a wedding planner’s perspective.

This is exactly the heart behind If Only You Knew — helping couples see that their wedding isn’t just a day, but part of a much bigger story.

If you’re engaged (or know someone who is), I think this perspective could really change how you approach it.

One thing I’ve noticed after filming weddings for years:

A lot of couples don’t realize until after the wedding what they actually wish they had captured.

Not because anything was bad — but because they didn’t know how to think about their story going into it.

This review said it really well:

“Just seeing the day of the wedding can only show so much.”

The wedding day matters — but it’s only part of the story.

Curious — have you seen this too? Either as a couple or working in weddings?

Just locked in an Ever After Project with one of my past couples.

They got married in 2023.

Since then, they’ve:
• moved across the country multiple times
• stepped into completely new seasons of life
• walked through loss in their family
• and are about to have their first baby

They’re not the same people they were on their wedding day.

And that’s the point.

This film isn’t about what happened.
It’s about what those seasons did to them.

How they grew.
How they changed.
Who they’ve become.

Because story isn’t events.

Story is how events shape someone over time.

I’m excited to document this season — not just for them to look back on…

But for their future kids, their community, and anyone who needs to be reminded:

God is always working — even in the in-between seasons.

This is what I’m building more of now.

Not just wedding films.

But stories that continue long after the day ends.

Stay tuned.

“Our Story Isn’t Interesting Because We Met on an App”

A lot of couples think their story is boring because they met on a dating app.

But your love story doesn’t start and end with how you met.

That’s just the introduction.

Your story is:
• how you fell in love
• why you chose each other
• what you had to overcome to get there
• and who you had to become individually before you were even ready for that relationship

Even the decision to download the app has a story behind it—what you were searching for, what you were healing from, what you had been through.

Some of the most meaningful love stories don’t happen in the first match or the first date…
They unfold in month 3, month 6, year 2—when things get real, when challenges come, when love becomes a choice.

Your story isn’t “we met on an app.”

Your story is everything that happened after.

“You’re not a wedding videographer.”

That’s what someone told me in 2018.

I had just started trying to break into the wedding industry.
I found a company hiring videographers and thought, this is my shot.

I wanted experience.
I wanted to learn.
I just wanted a foot in the door.

I went through the interview…
and afterward, they followed up and said:

They could tell I was passionate.
They could tell I was a good videographer.

But…

“I don’t think you’re a wedding videographer.”

So they didn’t hire me.

Fast forward to today.

I’ve filmed over 200 weddings.
I’ve been blessed to build a six-figure business doing this since 2021.
I’ve had the opportunity to travel across the country—and even the world—capturing stories in some of the most beautiful places.

I’ve:

- built a brand
- written a book on wedding films and storytelling
- gone full-time
- and now get to coach and mentor other filmmakers

And honestly…

I feel like I’m just getting started.

But here’s the part that’s funny.

Looking back… in a way, he was kind of right.

Because what I do has never just been about weddings.

I don’t see myself as just a “wedding videographer.”

I’m a storyteller.
- A documentary filmmaker who happens to work in the wedding space.

I tell stories about:

- people
- families
- love
- legacy

So yeah…

He was wrong.
But he also wasn’t completely right either.

And that’s the point.

Don’t let someone else’s limited perspective define what you’re capable of.

If God has given you a desire—
a vision, a direction, a calling—

He will meet you in it.

No person can block what He’s already set in motion.

Your job is simple:
Do the work. Stay faithful. Keep going.

Let the results speak.

A guy from Tulsa just hired me to make a film for his wife.

They’re about to celebrate 4 years of marriage.
They just had their first baby.

When I asked him why he wanted this, he said:

“It’s been a hard 4 years… and I want something that shows how much we’ve grown — something we can look back on.”

In those 4 years, they:
• left their hometown
• stepped into medical school
• had a baby
• walked through the weight of it all together
• and just matched for residency in Fresno, CA

That’s not just a highlight.
That’s a story.

And it reminded me…

The wedding day is a climax — not the conclusion.

Because after that day… life really begins.

The parts we don’t document are often the ones that matter most:
• the hard seasons
• the growth
• the quiet moments
• the becoming

We spend so much time preserving one day…

But what about everything that comes after?

That’s why I’ve started building something new —
focused on telling these kinds of stories, not just the wedding day.

Not just to look back with nostalgia —
but to reignite:
• joy
• love
• faith
• gratitude

The story doesn’t end at “I do.”

That’s just where a new chapter begins.

Over the past few years I’ve had more and more filmmakers reach out asking for advice about filmmaking, storytelling, and building a creative business.

Some of my favorite conversations have come from those moments — breaking down films together, talking about story, and helping people think through the next step in their journey.

Because of that, I’m starting to open the door to a small number of filmmakers I can mentor one-on-one.

This mentorship is for filmmakers — especially those in the wedding space — who want guidance in areas like:
• Improving their filmmaking craft
• Learning how to tell stronger stories
• Building a real creative business
• Growing personally as a creative leader

My goal isn’t just to help people make better films, but to help them build a meaningful and sustainable path as filmmakers.

Right now I’m starting small and working with just a handful of people as I shape what this mentorship looks like.

If you’re a filmmaker who feels stuck, hungry to grow, or simply wants guidance from someone a little further down the road, I’d be happy to talk.

You can apply for mentorship here:

Would love to hear what you’re working on.

This is exactly why I wrote If Only You Knew.

Not just to talk about wedding films —
but to help couples think differently about their story and what they’ll actually value years from now.

This review meant a lot.

Something I’ve noticed over the years filming weddings:

Many couples don’t fully realize what will make their wedding film meaningful until after the day has passed.

In the moment, it’s easy to focus on the events — the ceremony, the speeches, the dancing.

But years later, what often matters most isn’t just the day itself.

It’s the story behind it.

How they met.
What they walked through together.
Who they were becoming before the wedding ever happened.

When a film captures that journey, the wedding becomes part of a much bigger story.

That realization is actually what led me to write a short book called If Only You Knew about story-driven wedding films and helping couples think intentionally about what they want preserved.

Because a wedding film shouldn’t just help you remember the day.

It should help you remember how you got there.

Most people think their life is ordinary.

But their story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
