Earlier this week I brought a few of our leaders to the Chick-fil-A Home Office. We spent time learning from the leadership of the organization. We learned about some new things for when we open and the near future. We all spent time sharing about what makes Chick-fil-A different than other restaurants. Even after being with this company for 35 years, I never cease to me amazed at the way they care for people.

This afternoon some of our team got together for lunch. We are halfway through our renovation. Things are going well. As long as weather remains good, we won’t have any delays.

We miss all our guests. We miss being with all our team members. We will host a few more gatherings hoping to get our team together before we reopen.

Blessed and humbled!

Thirty-five years ago this month I entered into an agreement with Truett Cathy and Chick-fil-A to become an Owner/Operator with the company. There were about 250 Chick-fil-A restaurants then, mainly all in malls.

Chick-fil-A gave me the opportunity in Bradenton Florida at DeSoto Square Mall. (The mall and CFA are no longer there). I was humbled and grateful to have that chance. I later relocated to Sarasota Florida for a few more years before moving to Kansas City.

It amazes me how after all these years I still get to do this job, that I love. I have had hundreds of team members in Florida and in Missouri that I have worked with. Many become friends and some family. It is a blessing to be a part of this organization.

Chick-fil-A is investing a great deal of money in our restaurant to help us serve the people of this community. We will have better organizations to meet our guests needs. As the business grows, we want to ensure quality and food safety. I was able to tour our restaurant to to see its progress. Things are coming along great.

But, I miss it. I miss the business. I miss our people. I miss our guests (and I really miss our food).

We look forward to serving everyone again in a few weeks. Our contractor shared how great it has been working with all these local contractors and especially how helpful our city had been.

I’ll do another post soon of some interior pictures. Maybe even a Facebook live.

A friend sent this to me today. Asking if we can get this installed during our remodel.

The short answer is….NO.

But it would be funny.

On Thursday April 24th Chick-fil-A Independence Center will be closing for a complete remodel. We have been serving the Independence community for almost 17 years, and are showing some wear and tear.

Yes, we will be redoing our parking lot and drive through area.

Yes, we will be updating our dining room to the point where we hope it all looks completely different.

Yes, we will be transforming our kitchen to enable us to serve our guests more efficiently. Our hope is to get our food to you as quickly as we can, while still protecting its quality.

Stay tuned to our page and our Instagram page (cfaindependence) to see some behind the scenes pictures and videos of the restaurant during the remodel. We will also be sending out emails to everyone in our Chick-fil-A app list.

During this down time, we worry about everyone not getting enough Chick-fil-A. Please feel free to visit any one of the 16 Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Kansas City Metro area. If you visit our neighboring friends in Blue Springs or Lee’s Summit, you may see some of our team members helping them out during this time frame.

We look forward to serving you all again when we reopen later this Summer.
