Fun Fact Friday!

In the 2024 cycle 21 bills were filed in 12 states. California passed a resolution encouraging more support for spay/neuter
programs and a bill to create a study on high-volume spay/neuter services. A tax donation for spay/neuter
programs bill died. Colorado passed a bill requiring adopted dogs and cats to be sterilized. The bill received a lot of
attention until they agreed to add a medical exemption. Louisiana passed a bill that created a Pet Stamp Program to
fund spay/neutering.

🚨BREAKING NEWS: After numerous citations by BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions and complaints by animal advocates using their voices, Houston Petland Bellaire is NO LONGER SELLING PUPPIES!

Thank you to BARC Houston and BARC Director Jarrad Mears! As of March 2, 2024, BARC issued 113 citations to Petland Bellaire, with thousands of dollars in fines, and BARC never gave up on enforcing the ordinance despite Petland Bellaire’s blatant disregard for it.

As we celebrate this victory, other locations, such as Petland Katy, The Woodlands, and Webster, are full of puppies. If we do not pass a statewide law, puppy-selling pet stores will continue to pop up throughout the state.

One of Maricats Rescue kitties has gotten out from her adopted family's home! Her name is Maggie - she was last seen on Ballpark Way and Brown in Arlington. She is about 3 years old.
Please keep your eye out for this beautiful girl and let me know if you see her.
