Okay, I can finally make this announcement: my novel, "The Return of the Flying Boat", is finally PUBLISHED. I wrote this over the course of six years from '94 - '99 and have been trying to get an agent for the past 25 years, a task that has proven nearly impossible. About a year ago a very good friend put me in touch with her agent who represents West Virginia artists. He in turn sent me to Headline Books, a West Virginia publisher. They liked the synopsis of my novel and agreed to publish it. The story takes place in 1999 and centers around a fictional refurbishing and flying of the Howard Hughes H-4 Hercules Flying Boat, more commonly known as the "Spruce Goose", one of the largest airplanes ever built made entirely of wood and flown only once back in 1947. There is also an exciting subplot involving submarines and naval warfare. You can preorder your copy on Amazon now but it doesn't officially get released until December 12th, or you can buy a copy directly from me. DONATION REQUEST: In the wake of hurricane Helene a very large and popular showplace in NC called The Marquee where hundreds of artists displayed and sold their works (and essentially made a living) was totally wiped out. Individual studios in the same area were also destroyed by flood waters. The pictures below show the flooding, what The Marquee looked like before the flood and the devastation afterward. Well, the great MOTHMAN figure is finally finished. Here are shots with his wings and forearms attached and two shots with his eyes all aglow. He stands 6' tall from the floor to the top of his head and 7' to the top of his wings. We're installing him in the Mothman Black Light Mini-Golf Course in Pt. Pleasant the middle of this coming week. When those black lights hit him he will SHINE!!!
