On Monday, February 23, a room full of family, friends, and colleagues from Madison County Commission Chair Mac McCutcheon to NASA Technologist Dr. Naveen Vetcha to Ms. Tami Culver, deputy commissioner for the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, all came together to bid Ms. Donna Gilbert a fond farewell and retirement. Ms. Donna is retiring as manager of the Agribition Center, where she gave her all to serve the people of North Alabama.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Andrea Crain, Madison County Soil & Water Conservation District.

Ms. Donna – you will be missed! Thank you for your years of service with a very personal touch!

SEVERE WEATHER TAX-FREE WEEKEND - February 20-22

Alabama's 2026 tax-free weekend for severe weather preparedness is February 20–22, 2026, which allows tax-free purchases of supplies (under $94) and generators (under $1,564). The holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and ends at midnight on Sunday, with many localities waiving local taxes.
