It's TECH WEEK for Alchemy Theatre presents Shakespeare's LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, dir. by Richard Perloff - July 18-27, but we've got SO MUCH MORE going on!

As this is all part of The West Virginia Shakespeare Festival, we have some awesome FREE workshops and lectures coming up!

The first is a free monologue workshop on MONDAY, JULY 21st at 7PM with visiting artist and director Richard Perloff to help prepare you for Alchemy Auditions - WVSHAKES SCHOOL TOUR - Romeo & Juliet - WED 7/23/25 - 7PM - Prepare a monologue! on WEDNESDAY, JULY 23 at 7PM!

We also have auditions for kids as well! Alchemy AUDITIONS - KIDS! - The Musical SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! LIVE! - Wednesday, July 23 at 6PM & 7PM!

Then, on SUNDAY, JULY 27th, the WVSHAKES FESTIVAL DAY, we'll have a free workshop for kids by Jacob Smith at 1pm and then at 5pm, a keynote lecture by Mr. Perloff about Richard the II and The Hollow Crown!

There will also be vendors and performances all throughout the day on the Festival Day! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT!

Alchemy Theatre, The West Virginia Shakespeare Festival & The West Virginia Humanities Council present auditions for the 2025 On The Road With WVSHAKES School Tour - Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET!

Alchemy Auditions - WVSHAKES SCHOOL TOUR - Romeo & Juliet - WED 7/23/25 - 7PM - Prepare a monologue!

Rehearsals will be in the evenings, HOWEVER - you must have Friday morning availability in September and October to tour to schools in WV, OH & KY. Most of these days the tour will be finished by Noon, so you could still have a half-day at work, if that helps.

This special one-hour version of R&J has been crafted specifically for touring. Our tours use only a few props, set pieces and small costume pieces, as everything must be able to be moved quickly and transported easily.

If bringing Shakespeare to kids across the Tri-State appeals to you, please audition!

All you need to do is prepare a monologue. We are even offering a free monologue workshop at Alchemy on Monday, July 21 at 7PM with visiting director and Shakespeare scholar Richard Perloff. He can help you get ready for the audition!

Rehearsals will more than likely be from 8PM to 10PM on weeknights and performances will be between 8AM and Noon on Fridays in September and October.

These are PAID positions!

Directed by Cindy Harrison Westbrook, with music direction by Mark Smith and choreography by Fiona Reynolds!

Auditions are WEDNESDAY, JULY 23!
6PM for grades 2-5 and 7PM for grades 6-12!

Bring 30 seconds of a fun song to sing and be prepared to dance a little bit!

Due to government cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities and the West Virginia Humanities Council, our major grant for The West Virginia Shakespeare Festival was taken away.

This programming helps offset costs for A LOT of our programming, tours to schools for kids, workshops, lectures, classes for children and adults and stipends for our staff, year round.
