Meet Your Photographer

Hi, I’m Crysta! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so let’s catch up.

I’m a wife, a mom to two amazing boys, and also a proud dog and cat mom. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so starting my own business was something that always felt natural to me.

My journey with photography began in middle school when I got my first camera—a Pentax 35mm. In high school, I took things further and invested in a Bronica 120 film camera and studio lighting. I studied photography the old-school way: learning from the New York Institute of Photography through the mail, using light meters and gray cards.

At 18, fresh out of high school, I officially launched Lights, Camera, Smile Photography—and here I am, 22 years later, still loving every second of it.

For the past 10 years, maternity and newborn photography has truly captured my heart. I’ve poured time and love into education, studio improvements, and curating a stress-free, memorable experience for every family I work with. I’ve built a client closet filled with bump-friendly and timeless wardrobe pieces so you don’t have to worry about what to wear. It’s mostly geared toward women, but I also have options for children.

When it comes to newborn sessions, I like to tell my clients: Just bring your baby and a diaper bag—I’ve got the rest covered. From wraps and props to bonnets and headbands, everything you need is right here.

I also have a deep love for photographing families, children, and high school seniors—those were the first clients who trusted me with their special moments, and I’ll always be grateful for that start.
