I didn't stop DJing every week because of bad clients.

"Do we need to stop if there's lightning?" I said. "well yeah, LEGALLY" they said. "they didn't pay to have the DJ stop playing"

I was harassed. Abused. Treated like a transaction.

I learned that night, after 25 years, that I was done. Because I wasn't willing to risk the safety of people for profit.

"you need to turn the music back on"
"not until I can guarantee the safety of the people and my equipment"
"we don't care about that - just get the music back on"

I refused to do any events that put profit above people. That meant most events were no longer available to me. And I accepted that.

Mid-first-dance, the groom leans in and whispers something to the bride. She pulls back horrified, walks off, gets in a car, and never comes back. Nobody knows what he said. This is a real DJ story.
