For nine years, Malcolm has been “my person.” My constant through every life change from COVID quarantine, fun-employment, starting my own business, George, pregnancy, and Violet. He’s my truest friend and the most loyal “good boy.”
If you knew Malcolm, you knew he was always at my side. You also knew that, despite that loyalty, he was never above peacing out down the street—or even escaping a backyard barbecue to go play in traffic. (Courtney Tate, you know)
Malcolm had a rough start in life and bounced around a lot before he found his way to me. But once he found his home, he thrived. And of all the roles he had over the years, I don’t think he ever succeeded more at one than becoming a big brother and “Bubba” to Violet.
He was my gift from God, and now it’s time for me to give him back.
I know it’s true that all dogs go to Heaven, and I know my boy has a very special spot waiting for him there. Violet asked me if Jesus will take Malcolm to the dog park, and I told her, “Of course.” I like to think that’s exactly where he’s headed.
There will never be another Malcolm. Our family will miss him tremendously, and I will be forever grateful for nine years of loyalty, companionship, laughter, chaos, naps, and every silly little moment he blessed us with.
Rest easy, my sweet Bubba. My Pupperoni fiend. My nap king. My very best boy.
Thank you for finding your way to me.
I’ll see you again one day. 🤍
