After seeing the beautiful camellias and azaleas at the River Oaks Garden Club, I felt inspired to plant a little garden of my own.
For the longest time, I was too afraid to try because I’ve never considered myself someone with a green thumb. Then, about two months ago, I had a simple conversation with a man at the plant nursery that completely shifted my perspective. He said, “It just takes time to learn, just like any new skill that you’ve had to learn.” Learning to be a mom immediately came to mind.
Something about those words gave me an epiphany. Maybe I didn’t need to already know how; I just needed to be willing to learn and give it time.
Since then, I’ve planted hibiscus, camellias, hydrangeas, hostas, and azaleas. And with each new plant, I’m learning a little more and getting one step closer to having a little garden of my own.
Sometimes, growth really is just about giving yourself the time and patience to begin. 🌸
