Cake is one of our favorite desserts, and a classic wedding choice, but it’s not for everyone. We’ve been seeing a lot of conversation around this lately, so let’s talk about it.
As a guest, do you even notice if there’s no cake, or no cake cutting?
Some couples keep the tradition: elegant, expected, and sentimental enough to make Grandma tear up.
Others see it as a formality no one eats, and would rather serve gelato, tiramisu, or something they actually love.
Do you give it the spotlight, sneak in a few photos, or skip it altogether?
We tell our clients this all the time: if it doesn’t feel like you, it doesn’t need a place on the timeline or the budget.
More often than not, we land somewhere in the middle - an unannounced cake cutting where we’ve already pulled in the VIPs (think Mom, Grandma, photo, video), captured the moment, and let the rest of the party keep dancing.
Because the truth is, stopping the music for a cake announcement can kill the vibe. And sometimes, the dance floor never fully recovers.
Tell us in the comments: is cake here to stay, or are we moving on?
