E & J did it their own way, and that’s what made it so good.

Erin skipped the traditional bouquet in favor of a fun, modern corsage that covered her watch (because obviously she still needed to count her steps on the dance floor 💃). It was the perfect complement to her pink Selkie ™ gown and statement heart earrings.

Their wedding fell on Friday the 13th, and they *leaned in.* Table numbers featured symbols of bad luck - a black cat, a penny tails-side-up, a ladder you shouldn’t walk under - which all made an appearance on their cake. They even broke out Jason Voorhees masks for a few wedding portraits, because obviously. And in a very Houston move, they made their getaway in a slab. Are you kidding me? I want to marry them.

No bad luck here, just a whole lot of personality, thoughtful details, and perfectly flamboyant style.

Feed wasn’t feeling colorful enough lately, let’s fix that 🪄

Can you believe all of these flowers came from Trader Joe's minus a few stems from my garden? Proof that a good eye is worth more than an expensive flower.

Not my normal sourcing situation, but a fun little exercise in working with what’s available and seeing where it takes me.

What goes into a wedding day design [that doesn’t look copy pasted] ?
We really wanted to lean into the existing elements of Flora Kitchen - like the velvet navy blue chairs, striking green water glasses, and bright chandelier light. It was a true team effort among the bride, Wanderie and R + M Weddings Mallory to hone into the perfect cohesive color palette. The orange and yellow whimsical florals pop against the blue chairs, the basil green napkins stand up to the bold chairs and florals while echoing the drinking glasses - all supported by a neutral floral table linen that reflected ever so slightly in the candle and chandelier light 🤌 Do you think we nailed it?

White florals don’t need to be one note or basic. For D & J’s ceremony, we still managed to create movement, texture, and played with modern touches in all white for this fluffy chuppah. My maximalist heart doesn’t even miss the color at all 🤍
