After 27 hours of shooting (14 hours Monday, 13 hours Wednesday) our short film on Human Trafficking finally wrapped. Special thanks to the very talented actresses and actors on set that delivered their A-game daily. I put actresses first in that sentence because the women both on cast AND crew really carried the heart and soul of this film and made it happen, even my wife helped with hair and makeup. So here's to the women in all of our lives who make this world so awesome. We made movie magic this week about a very serious subject, and this is by far the proudest I've been of any project I've been a part of. Special thanks to lead talent Denise Williamson and our producer Debra Gutjahr Hale, the crew- John Hale, Gerald Morris Jr, Isaiah Peña, Ashley Smith, and Jessica Alston, the cast - Karina Pal Montaño, James Bradley, Iza Scott, Courtney Locke, Alan Nelson, Eliani Torres, John Enick, Christina Stroup, and Anita Darby, and can't forget our writers Isaiah Peña and Dom Orozco.
Directed by: Michael Raak

It was our pleasure to host this party for Opera in the Heights this past weekend at Silver Street Studios. The talent level of the opera singers that performed in the main hallway of our building was incredible. Look out for our party next month benefitting Art Now Houston.

Opera in the Heights (Oh!) took center stage at Silver Street Studios "Second Saturday" event, transforming the happening from a visual arts party into a performing arts fete. There were ...

Up at the crack of dawn (4am) to get this money shot of Downtown Houston's sunrise. This hyper-lapse shot took us 2 hours of the Director (Michael Raak) saying action every 5 seconds to push the dolly along Allen Parkway's running trail at 2 foot increments until we landed here.

Silver St. Studios Hyperlapse Test

Here's a little "hyper-lapse" test we did on the front porch of our studio at Silver Street Studios today...now we are ready for the real thing on Buffalo Bayou trail.

Thank you IAH for granting us media access today at Houston's largest airport!

Filming from the Presidential Suite today!

The last month has been really tough scheduling location shoots in/around Houston, but we finally managed to knock out this heavy scheduled day of shooting everywhere from Discovery Green to Hermann Park and even the Galleria. ALL of which we had to get permission to shoot a month in advance for this specific project. So thank you weather for finally cooperating and giving us one good day of sunshine.

Flashback Friday- That time Kevin Hart gave a shout out to our production company at a film premiere.

Our Marketing Director, Hector Gallardo, was invited by Maroch Advertising to interview the stars of "Think Like a Man Too" on the red carpet at the film's H...

All that remains of this recording space is the graffiti logo, a soon to be painted-over green wall, and a pile of staples. Not sad to see it go though as we are moving into a bigger and better space at Silver Street Studios. Congrats to Rival Films moving into their new space at Silver as well.

How high-tech is our set today?...well we're shooting in 4K on the ground on with the FS700 and HERO 4, and on the GH4 on the drone. Always good times with Up In the Air Films.

We had the pleasure of filming the rehearsal for the opera "Carmen" at one of the best venues in town. We shot it all in 4K on a RED and FS700 with Canon Cine Primes. Can't wait to see this footage!

What was our day at work like? Well we detonated a significant amount of explosives and shot it all on a Phantom Flex high speed $200k+ camera rig, 2 go-pros, and an FS700 at high speed. All in all, it was...pretty okay

What films are you ready to see next year??
2015 will be a great year!

Today we announced to the Artist Advisory Board for Winter, Silver, and Spring Street Studios that we've been shooting the trailer for our film, Houston Art Now, and the reaction was nothing but positive and supportive. Later next week, the trailer will be released along with a press release from Medley Inc. Below is a shot of a jewelry maker in the area at work, it's been great meeting everyone in the area and learning about art here in Houston.

Tyrion a.k.a. Yoda, our production pup, was on site this morning to navigate the drone by using the force. Working hard on the Houston Art Now documentary we are.

Our view for the day filming for the "Houston Art Now" Documentary . We were fortunate enough to get access to the rice silos on Winter Street, that will soon be turned into more artist spaces. Big things are happening in this city creativily.

Great meeting with Alfred Cervantes from the Houston Film Commission this morning discussing the announcement of our documentary, Houston Art NOW, about the Washington Ave. Arts District and the artists within.

Flashback Films has been developing an idea for a documentary about the Washington Avenue Arts District. We'd like to thank Nicola Parente for giving us some amazing insight during his inteview yesterday, as he is one of the original 20 artists at Winter Street Studios. The title of the film and full Press Release coming soon!

Location call: We are looking for a bedroom to shoot a "waking up" scene that has a bed with a very modern industrial metal bed frame for a spec commercial we have been working on. Please let me know if you or anyone you know has a cool looking bedroom similar to the one shown below. [email protected]

We visited Karbach Brewery yesterday afternoon, did the tour and enjoyed some amazing craft beer with one of our favorite vendors. We make as many excuses as possible to meet with vendors and clients for field trips around Houston, so if you feel like doing something fun give us a shout!

On-set today shooting Core Lab inside and out. Drones, check. Super slow-motion cameras, check. Quiet on set!, cameras speeding, andddd.....ACTION!
