🪑 How many tables and chairs do you REALLY need for your backyard party?
One of the most common questions we hear is:
“I’m expecting 50 guests. Do I need 50 chairs and enough tables for everyone?”
Based on our own experience hosting events and our experience in the party rental business, not necessarily!
For backyard parties especially, guests aren't sitting in the same chair for the entire event.
Some are eating. Some are standing and talking. Some are dancing. Some are playing games. Some are taking pictures. Some are moving around and visiting different groups.
Instead of planning for 100% of your guests to sit at the same time, consider having seating available for around 70–80% of your guest count, and then add different seating options to create a more flexible setup.
For example, for a 50-person backyard party, you could consider:
🪑 Seating for about 36 people
🍸 A few cocktail tables for guests who want to stand and mingle
🥂 Bar stools for additional seating
🍽️ Dining Tables 4 or 5 Round/Rectangular
The result?
Instead of filling your backyard with rows of tables and chairs, you create different areas where guests can eat, relax, mingle and move around.
And it can actually make the party feel less crowded and more dynamic.
The goal isn't to give every guest a chair.
The goal is to give every guest a comfortable place to be.
That's one of the biggest things we've learned from doing this ourselves. 👏
