This year was perhaps the greatest year of our lifetime. A pause in which to reflect. It revealed the best and worst in us.
•
First off- no one was exempt. That in itself is a source of comfort- a reminder that despite our differences, we are inextricably linked.
•
9 months ago, this fetus of fear and uncertainty was conceived and It made us think, what indeed could we do without?
•
As information increased and our knowledge to protect ourselves and each other became clearer, our humanity has resurfaced with greater strengths. We checked in on our neighbours and empathetically listened to the fears of others around us. We began to show solidarity towards oppressed groups in our society. We once again, became a community. A community that supports.
•
Within the walls of our home, we baked lopsided cupcakes with our children and though they may not be as perfect as the local bakery, they were in a way, far better. The ramen noodles may not have been devoured but it bonded our family with laughter. Homeschooling our kids has taught us how dumb we actually are when in comes to basic math.
•
We dusted off long forgotten projects and set our minds to accomplish its completion. ( I finally learned AutoCAD!!!!)... not to mention how we mastered Zoom amidst the household chaos.
•
We made the time to look within ourselves and reassess where we stand in terms of our faith, our strengths and our weaknesses. To honour what we cherish and to dispose of what no longer serves us. That includes our habits, our relationships and our possessions. We eased our stress with the indulgence of doing nothing at times. The privledge of life’s basic pleasures- whatever they are to you. Somewhere in this world of go-go-go the basics have been lost.... they’ve even become associated with failure and you may not have accomplished your all your good intentions but hey- congrats! You,re human.
•
We all count the days to 2021, hoping for a utopia at the strike of midnight, myself included. But life will ebb and flow no matter what the year.
•
I pray that whatever it is that you’re going through- you find peace and support in your community. I wish you all the best. studios
