Let’s talk about it-
🍁
Indigenous means native, original, or growing and living naturally in a specific place rather than arriving from somewhere else. This applies to the human species, flora, vegetation, trees, rocks, water composition, and so on. The look on some faces when we explain our in-shop herbs are indigenously grown or that we don’t purposefully disregard the cultures of all peoples we encounter is sometimes controversial. So to further explain; We believe in equality, we believe in fairness, we believe is a fundamental human principles of ‘offer more respect and less greed” as well as “ be kind and welcoming with boundaries of protection to your own.”
We offer a safe space because we know what it’s like to have things taken from us- in many generations and in many aspects. For a land to say it is “ Free”, it definitely restricts many. A lot of us are a grand mixture of American Native, European, Mexican, African, Eastern Indian, Irish, Scottish, Asian and many more. All of those lands have indigenous peoples that have shifted and beautifully populated our world. So, Why do we have so much trouble respecting this? Why are we so afraid to speak on it? To learn from it? Sit with that today. Sit with knowing we all came to America looking for the freedom to steer clear of thieves and many types of slavery and persecution only to steal and destroy lives of peoples not harming others.
🍂
We encourage you to educate yourself, ask real humans their folklore and heritage, vote for basic human rights for all, and speak up when others’ voices are muted.
📚
We encourage you today ( and beyond) to support indigenous communities, peoples, animals, plants and more. We encourage you to show respect and give thanks. We encourage you to give back in exchange from what you take. 🌼
We cannot change the past but we can move forward in different ways. We can respect each other and cherish our differences.
