“It’s so magical to see all my friends old and new,” said Chef Kesh Akinsanya as his second pop-up dinner series, “Three Roots, One Table,” began at The Ruins in Hood River on Aug. 19. With a Lebanese uncle, Liberian mother and Nigerian father, Chef Kesh cooks from his heritage, but last week’s event featured his father’s recipes. To learn more, see an upcoming edition! 👀

Two big bands. One stage. On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Jazz Collective Big Band of Hood River joins forces with Portland's acclaimed North Portland (NoPo) Big Band for the End of Summer Big Bands Royale, a showcase concert at The Ruins in downtown Hood River.

Two full horn sections. Two rhythm sections. A night of swing you won't hear anywhere else — performed under the open sky inside the walls of a century-old fruit cannery. The Royale is a listening showcase, giving both ensembles room to stretch out across the swing-era standards and contemporary big band writing that define their books. The evening culminates in a combined finale putting musicians from both bands on stage together.

🎷 When: Thursday, September 10th, 7–9 PM, doors at 6:30 PM
🎷 Where: The Ruins, 13 Railroad St, Hood River, OR 97031 (outdoor venue)

Tickets are available at the door or gorgeorchestra.org after September 1. Adults $15, students/youth FREE (HS & college students show ID at the door). Also, $5 tickets are available at the door for SNAP card holders through the Arts for All program.

Ooh! Hey! Look! It's The Ruins Tuesdays Season Finale! Come help us close out our 15th (!!!!!) season of Ruins Tuesdays!
We still have a bunch of kick-ass outdoor shows through the end of September, but this'll be it for Tuesdays for the year! Foods by Empanadas Maria Elba and the Featured Non-Profit is Envision Eyecare For All!
