Today we celebrate and remember our fallen heroes. At Hannah’s Flowers, we are also remembering the man who started it all, my dad, Harold.
For those of you who are new here, my dad started Hannah’s Flowers in front of my childhood home when I was in my early teens. He started small with produce and a few flowers, and steadily increased to needing a bigger space. This lead him to opening Hannah’s Flowers on Groton Ave in Cortland. It was a family affair-my mom, siblings, and I, along with some friends who were like family, all found ourselves at the stand helping.
My dad poured his heart and soul into this business that it became more than a business, it became a place where people came to see him and talk, get advice, and just enjoy themselves amongst the flowers. Hannah’s Flowers…Harold, became a staple in the Cortland community.
Unfortunately, 9 years ago today, we unexpectedly lost my dad. There really are no words that can describe what this loss meant to the community…or to us.
9 years later, people were still talking about Hannah’s flowers, still talking about Harold. Bringing Hannah’s Flowers back has given our family a chance to start something in Homer that will hopefully have an impact like our first location did.
Please take a moment today to remember Harold, post a story, a picture, a memory you have of him. And take the time to be with your family today-laughing, hugging, and making memories that will be around a lifetime and more.
We will be open today 10-2
