~ Nearly a century ago on 1704 acres of cotton plantation in Holly Hill, South Carolina Christel Russell commissioned to build this grand yet gracious traditional style plantation home. Renowned architects from Charleston & Atlanta won the heart of Mrs. Russell with their designs. B

eing owned by only one family, it wasn’t until April of 2014 that it was purchased by 2 gentlemen from Indiana whose passion was to bring this masterpiece back to life for everyone to enjoy and step into yesteryear. Today, pulling into the circular drive leading you to the manor you are greeted by a centuries old Live Oak tree spanning nearly the entire front yard. Its majestic presence is certainly appropriate for the beauty of the home. Just behind it the Live Oak is painted with a beautiful variety of Camellias, Mrs. Russell’s favorite. She loved them so much that she became a Master Gardener and National Garden Judge travelling the country. Her Camellias speak for themselves, some standing 15’ tall with blooms of white, red and pink from November thru April. It was our intention to keep the home as original as possible, which was easy to do as the original wood floors, custom crown molding and grand yet welcoming staircase were in virtually perfect condition. The cedar lined closets still smell of cedar, the trim work with its overwhelming size and the crystal chandeliers glistening as if it were 1920. The 4200 square foot manor is filled with museum quality furnishings and original oil paintings from various artists in Europe and America. Whether you are on the second story front balcony overlooking the Live Oak, the back lanai gazing at camellia blooms and being mesmerized by the sound of the waterfall in the inviting pool or walking the property smelling the lovely tea olive, magnolia, jasmine, gardenias and roses there is a consistent sense of class, dignity, natural beauty and Southern Charm engulfing you. It is our wish for you to enjoy, fall in love as we did and join us to appreciate this lovely venue for weddings, parties and any event that we will tailor specifically for you that will keep you talking, remembering and coming back. You will become a part of Holly Hill and Orangeburg County South Carolina’s history for the next century.
