It is with several mixed emotions that I announce that I am "Retiring" from rodeo photography. This journey has been one of the most incredible things I have ever pursued. I am so grateful for all of the people that I've met and all of the beautiful places I've had the opportunity to take pictures. However, after a lot of prayer and consider that I hang up my camera gear for now at least. This is not me saying I am giving up and never shooting another rodeo again, however, I will no longer be hosting pictures on a website and will be considerably less active on social media than I already am.

With all that being said everything will be 50% off until November 1 at which point I will be deactivating my website.

Now I'm not leaving rodeo entirely, I will still be around as Matthew and start our new journey as bucking horse stock contractors with High C Bronc Co.

This is been such an incredible journey and I cannot thank you all enough for all of the love, support and encouragement over the last few years.

Absolutely amazed at how beautiful this painting turned out using one of my photos as the inspiration.

Here is the finished piece 🤩
I’ve received so many lovely comments and encouragement whilst working on this piece and I really do love the community I’ve built on here! ❤️

This is quite different to what I usually draw! When my client sent me photos, I wasn’t sure how I could go about drawing one of my typical portraits from them. So I asked if they would like me to include the rider too, which they were so excited about! I felt like I had just jumped straight into the deep end offering to draw a portrait like this, but something inside told me I could do it! I had been thinking about this portrait on the months leading up to starting it and I felt excited more than intimidated, I couldn’t wait to get started!
I thought it would take me a very long time and I would get overwhelmed with the details. It actually took nowhere near as long as I thought it would and there wasn’t one part of the portrait where I thought “I can’t do this”, but many parts where I thought “oh wow, I did it!”
Turns out, after years and years of drawing, you do get better at it 😂 I don’t think I could have pulled this off quite as well a few years back!

Anyway, enough rambling. I hope you all like it and enjoyed watching it come together! There is a reel I posted earlier today where you can watch me draw it from start to finish!

It measures 12x16 inches and was drawn entirely with coloured pencils only!

I used a photograph taken by Blue Dog Photography with permission as my reference!

👍🏻, ❤️ and shares are greatly appreciated 🫶🏻

There is just something about a small town fair rodeo that is just magical. See you all at Berekly County Youth Fair next week!

*I am only posting candids breakaway and barrels. I'm not thrilled with my shots from bull riding*

I was supposed to finish editing last night but I had to go pick my wedding dress up. So I did manage to get slack done. I will finish Saturday at Ft. Armstrong while we drive to New Hampshire this weekend.
Thanks for your patience 🩵
