Summer break and summer for flowers are not the same thing!

Think about the hottest months, when Lake Michigan is ACTUALLY pleasant to swim in (😂) - it’s August and September!

And while there are definitely flowers that bloom in June and July (harder fought flowers, I would say)…

The summer flowers and annuals that we all love are in their fullest bloom in August and September!

So yes, we will still have flowers for you for all the summer months, ready for you in the stand.

But our summer upick and the most perfect time to be out here are going to be August and September!

I absolutely cannot wait to have you!

It was a weekend full of work!
Prepping the upick beds, planting out plants, weeding the weeds!

We’re in a bit of an in-between, waiting on peonies and early summer flowers to start blooming.

But in the meantime, it’s a lot of work to get ready for a beautiful summer! 😍

Part Two of my thoughts on the Tulip Season:
I am definitely an introvert and need my time, but I also love welcoming people to our home and to our space.
We quite literally moved here with the intention to do so.

So once people started coming and picking, walking away with smiles and flowers, there was a great sigh of, “Oh yes, this is what I love.”

Granted, I was still exhausted the whole way through. Scrambling around.

But also, it is what I love.

My friends who so generously gave up their time to come help on the busy days witnessed it too. Literally, everyone leaves here so happy. How can you not?

Tulips are the most insane way to start our flower season, but it is also such a fuel for the rest of the year.

I love getting to wrap up more flowers to put in the stand.

I literally cannot wait for our summer events. Lark, Midsummer Night’s Dream … they’re always the BEST nights of the summer. And you all agree!

I hope for a bit more rhythm and less scrambling, but also, some days/weeks are just like that and maybe I can welcome it a bit more than resist or resent.

But mostly, right now, my introvert heart is thankful for a few weeks of just dirt work. Time to prep beds and plant flowers that you all will enjoy in a few months time. Time for quiet and a bit more reflection.

And in a few weeks, flowers will be blooming and hopefully filling your homes again!

The tulip season is officially done. The last flower went out the door this morning.

And I’m still processing.

While we are still learning a lot, we know that when tulips start, it is going to be 2-3 weeks of madness. And then it’ll be done.

We’ve been preparing for this. BUT. We weren’t ready.

April 13 rolled around and we got some crazy, unseasonably warm temps. In the “learning’ part of all this, I was wondering what would happen. Shoot, are these ACTUALLY going to start blooming now??

Yes. Yes they would. Blooming on short stems. Literally exploding with color before our eyes, before we could process what was happening.

But throw in there that not only was it early and I wasn’t ready, I also was scheduled to have surgery that Friday. Not too serious, but surgery nonetheless, and I literally could not open early!

It’s one thing to be ready for the chaos. It was another to feel it thrust upon us.

(Part Two tomorrow - or read the whole thing on the blog)

Yep 😂

To those who found us through tulips this year: Hi! Welcome! 👋🏼

But yes, we do so much more than tulips!

💐The Flower Stand is our bread and butter.
Open Tuesday-Saturday pretty much from now through October (we’ll have a slight lull between tulip and peony season but then it’s go time!)

💐We host amazing Events in the summer.
These are your Instagram-perfect nights, without the screen time! Dress up, be in the flowers, and soak up time with your girls!

💐And Summer UPick season is August and September! Just like we know when we pick strawberries, blueberries, apples, etc., flowers have their peak picking season and that is August and September! We can’t wait to welcome you all back to pick again!

Sprinkle in a few bulk buckets, private upicks, and random extras! We are moving flowers all summer long and we can’t wait to get them into your hands 🤍
