Your brain on confusion: "I have NO idea what I'm doing right now."
Also your brain when confused: Frantically building neural superhighways in the background.
That foggy, frustrated feeling when you're learning something new? That's not failure. That's your brain literally rewiring itself to do things it couldn't do yesterday.
New article just dropped in 'Johnny's Laws': "Confusion is the Brain Making New Connections" - featuring the story of a failed artist who accidentally became the father of neuroscience by drawing pretty pictures of brain cells.
(Spoiler: He drew the first accurate pictures of neurons. Won a Nobel Prize. Started out thinking he'd failed at everything.)
If you're learning an instrument and feeling confused right now - GOOD. Stay confused for 5 more minutes. Your neurons are reaching out trying to connect. Let them cook.
