Alyssa Fortin Photography Alyssa Fortin Photography Alyssa Fortin is a portrait photographer. She learned the art of black and white photography while earning a BFA.

After finishing her Masters degree, Alyssa taught photography and the fine arts for several years. Her extensive background in the fine arts allows her a comprehensive artistic vision capturing the distinctive images of children and emphasizing their natural expressions and inner beauty. Alyssa Fortin Photography is based in Hingham, Massachusetts. Alyssa works throughout the South Shore area of B

oston, and Cape Cod, specializing in natural light, film photography with a focus on newborns, babies and children. Alyssa is inspired by the magic of the darkroom, and produces luminous black and white silver gelatin prints which suit perfectly her natural, unmediated images. She is known for her honest and respectful approach to portraiture. There is magic in childhood and this is what Alyssa longs to capture most - to record and save this magic as precious memories on film.

Just saw the final presentation of my 30 x 20 piece, Satori (2023) in a client’s dining room, and I’m feeling so grateful. 🖤

Satori is a Japanese Zen Buddhist term meaning “awakening” or “enlightenment”—a sudden shift in perception, a flash of insight. This image aims to capture that rare moment of self-discovery and reflection.

Big thanks to Jenn Moyer for helping name this piece. Her words say it best:
“I thought it was one of the best photo captures of self-reflection I’ve seen.”

These are some of the pieces from my Fiori series—The Rose’s Reach and Petals in a Liquid Dream will be featured in Ebb and Flow at South Shore Art Center. In Fiori, the boundaries of reality blur as submerged ballet dancers move in harmony with fresh flowers, capturing fleeting moments where light, water, and movement create a dreamlike, ethereal world. The show runs June 5–July 19, with an opening reception this Thursday, June 5th from 6–8 PM. Hope to see you there!

New Series: Meet the Ballerina!
Each week, we’re introducing one of our amazing underwater dancers.

This week, meet Evelyn!
We asked her what the hardest part of underwater ballet is.

Stay tuned to learn more about the dancers behind the scenes.

Blissful memories! Stumbled upon this gem from year two of my underwater ballet journey and I’m swooning all over again. The blue water is mesmerizing, isn’t it? Love how this close-up shot captures the serenity and beauty of the moment. Can’t wait to dive back in (literally!) and create more magic this year

Cuba—a country that continues to captivate me. After 7 years of working on this photography project, I’m still learning, exploring, and falling in love with the beauty of the island and its people. My latest visit was full of unforgettable moments: rolling ci**rs, learning the art of cigar smoking, wandering through the stunning landscapes of Viñales, and visiting Cria Cuervo, the incredible mosaic restaurant and bar in Fusterlandia created by the talented José Fusterland.

Just returned from my fourth trip to Cuba and I’m still reflecting on the incredible experiences I had. Over the past seven years, I’ve been working on a collaborative photography book with Iovanni Perez, a Cuban tour guide, and Liz Devitt, an American writer. While Liz wasn’t able to join us this time, she was with us on the last trip, and her voice continues to be a vital part of the project.

This past week was truly special. We brought 250 pounds of supplies to donate—including baseball equipment for a former pro player who now coaches teens, basketballs and shoes for a youth coach, and essential toiletries and clothing. More than anything, the heart of this trip was the people. I had the privilege of having real conversations with Cubans from all walks of life, and their warmth and resilience left a lasting impression on me.

Cuba, you have my heart.
