So… remember when Addie thought she was just going to dinner? 😂

I’m still obsessed with this surprise.
Peyton flew in. Two families flew in. Friends flew in. Flowers were arranged. Tiki torches were attempted to be lit. Damn those beautiful ocean breezes. Secrets were kept.

And Addie knew NOTHING.

This is exactly why I love what I do.
I love helping create these moments with my couples, then making sure the connection between you is palpable in your photographs.

And if you’re thinking, “We’re awkward in front of a camera,” you’re in good company. 😂
You don’t have to know what to do.
I’ll quietly prompt you into something that feels natural, give you just enough direction to get you comfortable, and then let things unfold.

ADDY DIDN’T EVEN KNOW HE WAS IN TOWN!!

She thought that she was just going to dinner with Rachel🙄

Peyton flew in without telling her — not the proposal, not even that he’d landed. While he and his mom set up flowers and tiki torches on the beach (the wind had other plans for those torches), Addie was getting ready for what she thought was a normal dinner with her friend.

She came for dinner. She left engaged.

Everyone knew. Everyone showed up. She had no idea.

He waited. Practiced getting down on one knee. Checked the time more than once. Texted the group chat of everyone flying in behind the scenes.

Then Rachel walked her straight down to the beach — right to him.

Two families and a whole group of friends were waiting in the wings for the big YES!!

She came for dinner. She left engaged.

Everyone knew. Everyone showed up. She had no idea.

And this is why I love capturing these love stories for couples. Addicted!!

You know it’s going to be an incredible day when the getting ready shots look like this.

Mallory hadn’t even left the room yet.

Hewitt Oaks in full form — gold-leaf mirrors, chinoiserie wallpaper, a chandelier dripping crystal over a bed that looked more like a cloud. Mallory’s gown alone did half the work, hand-beaded in pearls from strap to train, catching light like it had somewhere to be.

But the real shot isn’t the dress. It’s her laughing with her head back before anyone told her to. It’s the quiet ones too — sitting on the floor by the French doors, veil half over her face, waiting on nothing in particular.

Some brides wear a gown. Mallory wore the whole room.
