No two tubers look the same. Some are fat and round, some are long and skinny, some are just a bit odd and you're not quite sure what you're even looking at. And yet, when you give them the right conditions - good soil, water, a little patience - every single one of them grows into something gorgeous.

I think that's what I love most about dahlias. It's not about starting with the prettiest tuber. It's about what you do for it, day after day.

Planting the weird little knobby one right alongside the plump pretty one and giving them both exactly the same care. They'll both surprise you.

This season at Phlora is going to look a little different, and it feels really good.

This year, I’m choosing focus, care, and doing fewer things, but better. Spring will be dedicated to Flower Club and Mother’s Day. Poppy won’t be open regularly in the spring, but will be open Mother’s Day weekend (details to come). After that, the farm will be quiet to the outside while I focus on growing, especially dahlias. During the summer, our flower stand will be closed while we focus on those dahlia divas and other late summer flowers.

We’ll reopen in mid-August with dahlia bouquets, followed by Fall Flower Club in September. You can also expect spontaneous Poppy pop-ups when the flowers are just too good not to share, plus dried floral pumpkins returning in the fall.

Some things are pausing this year, like DIY buckets and workshops, but Flower Club, dahlias, and thoughtful design remain at the heart of everything.

Wow, what a year. It just keeps getting better every year, and I thank you all so very much for your support. It's tough sometimes selling local flowers when there are so many options available, but this community has connected with me and my story, and you just keep👏showing👏up.👏

2026 is coming with some changes (more on that soon, promise), but Phlora and Poppy are definitely here to stay!

Thank you to all of YOU for making 2025 the year that it was. I can't wait for next season!

We woke up to Frostmas this morning - that first real frost that tells you flower season is officially over. The dahlias froze, the grass crunched under our boots, and the field went quiet.

I always feel a mix of emotions this time of year. Relief that the rush is over, gratitude for everyone who supported us, and a little bit of sadness saying goodbye to the stand for the season.

Before we tuck Poppy in, I just want to say thank you. You showed up every week, shared your love for local flowers, and made this year one of my favorites yet.

🍂 Have you decorated for fall yet? A pumpkin by the door, a blanket on the couch, maybe a candle in the evenings? I officially put away my giant portable air conditioners!

Out at Poppy this weekend, you’ll find a few bouquets that feel like fall, plus our dried floral pumpkins in mini + medium sizes. The large ones have already sold out, but these smaller pumpkins are perfect for tables, counters, or gifting to a friend.

It’s the little things that make the season feel right. Flowers, pumpkins, and a cozy stop at the stand.
