Learn about Frida Kahlo’s artistic origins, told through tabletop puppetry! Teatro Milagro presents "Autoretrato de Fridita" at the Walters on Sunday, September 20.

Set during the Mexican Revolution, young Frida Kahlo becomes inspired by her father’s creativity, and with his support, uses her imagination and a box of paints to overcome challenges and create her own world.

Kanekoa brings their signature electric ukulele sound to the Walters on Friday, September 25! Playing everything from traditional Hawaiian to 80s pop, Kanekoa fuses jam band energy with flavors of reggae, blues, funk, and island music.

Don't miss the ribbon cutting of Hillsboro's newest mural on Tuesday, August 25 at 4 pm! Created by artist Emily Kepulis, the mural is located on the south wall of Active Chiropractic & Wellness on 2nd Avenue.

After the ceremony, head down the street to help paint a new mural on the Civic Center parking garage from 5 to 8:30 pm. Artists Allison McClay and Rodolfo Serna invite community members to paint parts of the 900-square-foot mural.

✨ Meet Emerson Blackaby!

Today we’re continuing our countdown to the Hillsboro Art Walk 20th Anniversary Sticker Celebration by introducing you to one of the talented local artists selected to create an anniversary sticker!

Emerson Blackaby, who is based in Beaverton, created sticker design “Trillium Tales” with the following inspiration:

"This design is the product of combining aspects of the Hillsboro flag with compositional motifs found in medieval illuminated manuscripts! Those manuscripts are in a style that I find to be both beautiful and capable to conveying story in such an interesting way, which for me is reminiscent of the art walk itself. I did take some liberties and add some hearts and dots too, just for fun!"

On September 1st, during the Hillsboro Art Walk on First Tuesday, you can find this sticker exclusively at Walters Cultural Arts Center located at 527 East Main Street. The Walters Cultural Arts Center is a visual and performing arts center that is home to a 200-seat event and performance space, art galleries, and classroom art studios.
