Fifteen years ago tonight, the doors to the original Pizzeria B**a at Northwestern Hwy. and Franklin Rd. opened - and what a night it was!
The space, once the famous Italian hot spot Il Posto (translation: โThe Placeโ - do you remember it??), had been completely transformed. The energy was electric, the room was packed, and the air was full of anticipation (and the smell of wood fired pizza!). I was proud to be working alongside some of the best in the business, helping bring a bold new culinary vision to life.
That night, the soul of Italian cuisine came alive - and Iโll never forget the flavors, the people, and the passion that made it all possible. After having only been in the US for about 1 year at the time, I finally felt closer to home than ever.
As I prep for an event today, I think back to that evening and strive to bring this same feeling every time I am in front of my wood burning oven tossing doughโฆcrafting authentic Italian pizza and bringing it to all of you in Metro Detroit!
