Today we wanted to share a very special piece of our family’s flower shop history and the legacy of Flower Express in honor of Dolly Parton! 🤍

This old Polaroid was taken in the early 1990s at a dinner party where our business had the honor of providing the flowers

In the photo Dolly is holding a small vase of flowers sent to her by Ed Vance the man who started our family business and laid the foundation for the legacy of Flower Express along with a handwritten note from him.

Ed Vance was born and raised in Seymour, Tennessee not far from where Dolly grew up. They were close in age and like so many East Tennesseans he had always had a special place in his heart for Dolly. He simply wanted to send her a little something and let her know how much he admired her.

What makes this memory so special to our family was Dolly’s response. She was so delighted by the small vase of flowers and by Ed’s note that she later mailed this Polaroid back to the flower shop with a handwritten note of her own thanking him.

For someone who was loved and admired by so many the fact that she took the time to acknowledge such a small gesture of kindness has always said so much about who Dolly was

Today this little Polaroid holds an even more special place in our hearts. It reminds us of where our family business began the legacy my Poppy created and the values that continue to guide Flower Express. Today is a very sad for all as we mourn the loss of a true icon and more importantly a truly wonderful person!
