My name is Veronica, my daughter's name is Sonya and we are very excited to be taking over, bringing all of the traditions everyone has come to love from the venue as well as incorporating all the new exciting things we are looking forward to hosting. I was born and raised in Chadron, NE and my husband's family are fifth-generation farmers right here in Hay Springs, so we have long-standing roots here and are so excited to be coming home. We can't wait to host your next event!

Our Story

Galyen Farms is a 4th generation “sustainable” family farm in Sheridan County, NE. “The Barns” were built in 1930 and have been home to horses, cattle, pigs, and sheep. We grow organic, dry-land grains and harbor a small butterfly and honeybee habitat. We live a “farm-to-table” lifestyle by tending to a large vegetable and herb garden, harvesting pheasant and deer from the land, raising just enough grass fed beef to feed the family. We get other fresh products like pork, eggs, and honey from neighboring farmers. We believe in simple living.

Larry Galyen was born and raised on the farm. His great-grandparents homesteaded the area in 1894. The current farmland was purchased by the family in 1919. Larry’s wife, Deborah, is the inspiration behind renovating the original farmhouse and converting the abandoned barns into a unique, rustic, shabby-chic venue. She has years of experience in interior design, construction and hospitality in Colorado Springs, CO and has brought some of her city passions to the farm.
