Molly already found her spot for the summer. 🐄💦

This is the last weekend for weddings at Woodberry until September — and if you’ve spent a summer in the Florida Panhandle, you already know why. June through August here is beautiful, but it’s not exactly ideal for an outdoor wedding at a venue that isn’t fully climate controlled. We want every couple’s day to feel magical, not miserable, and that means being honest about what our space is and isn’t.

So while Molly and the other mini highland cows wade and the property rests, we’ll be heads-down on some bigger projects — the kind of work that keeps Woodberry well-maintained and, if we’re being a little mysterious about it, better than it’s ever been. 😅 We cannot wait for you to see what we have planned.

In the meantime, tours are still an option for those of you starting to plan your wedding and looking for the perfect venue. Early mornings and evenings are the sweet spot — the light is gorgeous, the air is bearable, and you’ll get a real sense of what the property feels like during wedding season. We’d love to show you around.

“The Phoenix”
We’ve been working on this new little area at the venue and would love to get your input! We’d like to create a little wooden sign that shares the story of this centuries old tree. Here’s the story:

This Live Oak — judging by the diameter at its base — is likely well over 300 years old. The previous owner originally intended it as a wedding tree when the property was first being established. Then Hurricane Michael came through and tore away roughly a third of its canopy, leaving a gaping scar along the trunk. For years the tree stood that way: alive, but marked.

Earlier this year, while burning a brush pile nearby, the fire somehow jumped to that exact spot on the trunk — no scorched grass in between, no clear path — and burned the scar down into the heartwood, leaving a hollowed, cauterized bowl about a foot deep. We decided to lean into it. We planted into that wound, and what grew there has flourished.

We would love to know what you all think a subtitle of the story (or think of it as a tag line/ caption) could be? We are open to all ideas, but here are a couple that we thought of:

Not untouched by fire- transformed through it

At Woodberry, every rental includes access to our extensive décor closet, stocked with everything you need for a beautiful celebration: chargers, table runners, greenery, florals, candles, signs, and so much more. You’re welcome to use it all at no extra charge. 🎉

And if you’d rather walk in on your wedding day to a space that’s already been transformed? That’s where Maddie comes in. Our in-house coordinator offers everything from a decorating-only package to full-day coordination with partial planning starting three months out.

Of course, couples are always welcome to handle their own decorating or bring in one of the talented planners and coordinators on our recommended vendor list — we have some great ones from the Tallahassee and surrounding areas. But Maddie has spent nearly two years working weddings right here on this property, and that kind of familiarity with the space is hard to replicate. She knows this venue almost as well as we do and feels like an extended part of our family serving yours. 🤍

3 things that will make or break your wedding aisle photos 📸
If you’re planning a wedding in the Florida Panhandle (or anywhere, honestly), save this.
1. Hold the kiss. Longer than feels natural. That’s the shot.
2. Skip the dip if you haven’t practiced it. A dip that isn’t second nature reads as awkward in photos — and it’s not worth the risk on your wedding day.
3. Hire a photographer whose style already moves you. Comfort in front of the camera comes from trust, and trust comes from connection. Don’t book based on price alone.

Your aisle moment is over in 60 seconds. Give your photographer something to work with.

Your shoes say a lot about you — and at Woodberry, there’s no wrong answer. Brides here have walked the aisle in everything from worn-in cowboy boots to custom-embroidered tennis shoes, and every single pair has been perfect. When you’re getting married on a working farm in the Florida Panhandle, comfort and personality tend to win out over tradition — and we love that for you.
