This summer I went to NYC... The goal of the trip was to do things I had not yet done in NYC before... this was one of them: The 9/11 memorial and museum. What a sobering experience. I cried for those who lost their lives on that day... The day that, as an 8th grader, I stood in my school library and watched as the 2nd tower was hit... I remember not really knowing what was going on until I watched that happen... I was scared... Hundreds of miles away in MS... I was nervous and didn’t know what this meant... 18 years later, I got to see where it all happened and reflect on all that happened that day and all that has happened since. While our country is FAR from perfect, I know this is something that strangely brought us together in some ways and others not so much. However, this museum shows the strength of Americans and does a beautiful job of honoring those who lost everything that dark day. This memorial inside the museum says, “No day shall erase you from the memory of time.” -Virgil ... let us never forget and continue to work to be better together... Let someone know, today, that they are loved and they matter.
