What midlife animal loving woman hasn’t dreamed of having a beautiful property like this and raising some goats, chickens, pigs, ducks and a few dogs running around loose? Look how freaking cute this place is!

We had another “better than I expected” The Hot Spot: Gen-X Women in Lake Country, WI event. It was an evening of Margs, Mats & Mini Goats. We started at Thunder Bay for some social time and truly had some much needed girl talk. Then we headed over to Royal Roost in Pewaukee for some Critter Yoga.

I thought we’d do some yoga and get to pet some baby goats. Btw, they are one week old🥰. It was such a lovely evening and the owner, Karen, loves sharing her animals and property with others. I highly recommend going to one of their events.

The Hot Spot Lake Country is a midlife meet-up for Gen-X Women in the Lake Country’ish area. We are meeting new women, making new friends, and doing so many things that most likely would normally pass us by. Come have an incredible summer with us! https://bit.ly/JoinTheHotSpotLC

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, this is a wonderful art fair. It’s a beautiful property with a lot of vendors and you can even get a Bloody Mary, wine, food, etc. I go every year and highly recommend 😊

I have another super fun event for you to try!

Have you heard of Indulgence Chocolatiers? They are located at The Corners in Brookfield. They offer different kinds of classes/tastings. The Hot Spot Lake Country just went to the Chocolate, Cheese & Rose’ tasting.

It was a fantastic evening of trying 4 different pairings. Many from local farms and wineries (some imports) with the truffles coming from Indulgence. We felt so fancy 😊. The woman who owns it did a fantastic job of sharing her passion.

It was such a great night of trying something new with friends. I highly recommend trying it out.

What are The Hot Spot Hotties up to now?

Have you ever tried line dancing? Listen, I am not anything close to being a country music girl, but I do love to dance! TBH, I used to think it was kinda lame. That was me judging something I never tried. But, then I showed up to a line dancing event and had an absolute blast! Let's just say it's come a long way from what it used to be. Plus, it's not just country music anymore. It's really having a moment right now.

Tonight, the women of The Hot Spot start a 4-week line dancing lesson session hosted by The Wisconsin Boot Kickers. I am so excited to do this! They have so many pop-up line dancing events to go to. And now, instead of me fumbling my way through it, I will actually know some of the dances. Yeeehaw!

Do you want to "get out there more", try some new things and just have some freaking fun? The Hot Spot is where it's at! And the cool part, is it's just for us! Gen-X women living their best lives!

Sure the main goal with The Hot Spot: Gen-X Women in Lake Country, WI is to have fun, make new friends and try new experiences, adventures and activities, but my vision is also to be involved with volunteer and charity opportunities.

Some of us Hot Spot Hotties gathered at River Glen Church for a meal packing extravaganza! Collectively, we packed thousands of meals. Some kept local and some sent to much needed areas like Kenya. Did you know Kenya has had 1 day of rain in 3 years? Seems impossible to exist with such a lack of water, which means, lack, of food which means animals can't live, produce can't grow, and the trickle down effect continues.

If anyone knows of any good volunteer opportunities, please pass them on, so we can do more of this.

It didn’t truly hit me until this morning, but something bad was about to go down. Again, another story of women beware. Which I’m really F’ing sick of btw.

I went to The Corners in Brookfield yesterday, Sunday, at about 3:30pm. I parked underground near the escalators that go up to Bel Air are. I pulled into a parking spot. A truck on one side and a big concrete pillar on the other. I turned off my car and was checking my phone, head down. I know… big mistake.

I don’t know if I saw something out of my peripheral or if it was good timing, but I looked up and saw a guy walking fast towards my window. We locked eyes and he looked freaking crazy. Most likely on drugs. He got about 3ft from me. I fumbled and then started my car and started going in reverse. He freaked out and quickly hid behind the big pillar. It was bizarre because I could still see him, but he was clearly trying to hide and then kept peeking around the corner while I was pulling away.

It was really crazy and it really didn’t hit me til this morning that had I not looked up, that guy was going to do something.
This was a wake up call for me. I have a habit of looking at my phone in the car and because my doors are locked, I thought I was being safe. But when all that’s between you and a crazy person is a piece of glass, it doesn’t feel so safe to simply be in a locked car. I’m also not a gal with quick reactions. I fumbled to start my car, didn’t think of honking my horn and I was pretty blocked in on each side, so there was no quick getaway. Luckily the guy stopped in his tracks when I looked up.

It sucks that as females, we have to always have our guard up and be on the lookout, but just hoping you can learn something from this and don’t sit in a car with your head down. Or walking around with your head down. Pretty sure the eye contact stopped this guy from whatever he was about to do.

Besides being the founder of The Hot Spot, I am also a Certified Menopause Specialist Coach. Every Tuesday I share a post. This is one I shared a couple weeks ago. The more we know about menopause, the better we can take it on!

Okay, I’m curious if you’ve heard this before…
“I breezed through menopause.”
“My mom didn’t have any symptoms.”

And every time I hear that, I kinda pause… because I wonder if it’s really true or if the dots just never got connected.

Because let’s be honest… our hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone) don’t just quietly fade away without something happening. That would be like your WiFi going out and everything still working perfectly.

And the other thing? We don’t just “get through” menopause and move on. We go from perimenopause → to menopause (which is literally one day) → into post-menopause… and that’s where we stay… til the day we leave this earth.

So if things start popping up like random symptoms, weird changes in your body or mood, it’s worth at least considering that hormones might be part of the story.

Not saying we ignore things or skip the doctor. But I’ve seen (and experienced) how often women go in with symptoms, get all the tests… and are told “everything looks normal.” And then we’re left like… okay but I don’t feel normal. Sometimes it’s anxiety. Sometimes it’s “nothing.” Sometimes it’s another referral. More appointments, more specialists.

And sometimes… it’s menopause. Some women will never get diagnosed correctly. And that is terribly tragic. They think they've lost their minds.

I think the biggest shift is just being aware. Like, “huh… could this be hormone-related?” so we can actually start looking at the root instead of just chasing symptoms.

And also, can we agree we’re done just accepting this as our fate? We don’t have to just power through and suffer in silence.

💬 I’m curious…
Have you had anything pop up out of nowhere and thought “what the heck is this?”

Would you like a Part 2? Because unfortunately, there are quite a bit more.

I’ve been thinking about the dance party a lot the last couple days…

I had so many women come up to me and say, “I really needed this.” Same, and that's how this all started. Because it’s so easy to fall into the midlife routine, stay home, get comfy, say “we should do that sometime”… and then never actually do it.

And then a night like that happens and you’re dancing, laughing, singing every word and suddenly it hits you… ohhh right, THIS version of me still exists. 🔥

That’s exactly why I started The Hot Spot. More of that. Less “someday.”

So if you’re thinking, “yeah… I want more of that in my life”…

✨ 25% off your first 3 months. Use code: HOTTIE25 (link in the comments)

Be honest… what was your “walk of shame” situation back in the day? 😏

A) Smelled like an ashtray + regret 🚬
B) Freezing in line with a mini skirt with ZERO jacket
C) Heels in hand by the end of the night
D) Falling in love during a slow dance… never to see him again
E) Realizing too late that tequila shot was a really bad idea
F) All of the above (and absolutely no shame 😂)

Well what can I say? it was another epic night with vibrant, full of life women. We let loose, didn’t give a $hit about the stressors in our life & celebrated each other. It felt like one big unified group of women! My kind of peeps!

Thanks to all who came and made this the coolest freaking night. It’s about time we get our own thing. A night just for us!

If you have any videos or pus to share, please send them my way, post below or tag me Mindy Dorff Thank you!🙏

SAVE THE DATE: September 13th. It’s a whole different event that you won’t want to miss. And yes, for women 40+. Stay tuned!
