This bride absolutely dazzled in her couture Oksana Mukha wedding gown. The craftsmanship and unforgettable details accentuated her flair for standing out in a crowd. If you don't choose a jaw dropping gown on your wedding day, when is the right occasion to do so? The pearl and crystal embroidery, the dramatic bow and the shine of organza made me swoon while photographing this beautiful bride all day.

Emily and Dan chose to celebrate in their wedding ensembles two times. The first time, we ventured north to the American Club and then to Kohler-Andrae for a nice mix of backdrops...refined elegance versus rugged lakefront.

The second time, we headed south for a stop at the Pfister followed by a quaint ceremony with their closest confidants at Sorella.

I love that they desired an opportunity to get photographed in all of their wedding glory without the stress of a wedding day timeline. We were able to get creative and enjoy the various locations in their entirety.

I've been in this wedding world since 2013 and I love that couples are now creating their own vision for how they see the day/days play out. Get creative, think outside of the box and envision the feelings you truly want to experience for your wedding.

Passionate doesn't begin to describe how I feel about capturing precious family moments. The innocent humor of children, the tender connections, the sweet snuggles... I truly love everything about family photography.

It seems like the shift from April to May has inspired an influx of family photography inquiries. Happy to have booked two today already!

A wedding day throws so many variables at your photographer. Indoor lighting can be a challenge...

-fluorescent lighting casts a different tone than incandescent lighting does
-some churches don't allow for flash photography so your photographer has to have the right gear and knowledge to shoot in extremely low light conditions
-an outdoor ceremony can include mixed lighting... passing clouds mean a toggle between direct sun and darker shade
..it is CRUCIAL to find a photographer who can work in all kinds of lighting situations. One who has a knowledge of how light impacts color and one who can manipulate both natural light and artificial light. There is a time for leveraging natural light. There is a time for leveraging on camera flash. There is a time for leveraging off camera lighting.

Your wedding is high stakes; one day. Choose a photographer who sincerely knows what they are doing. One of the biggest takeaways I see from brides on forums is that they regret "settling" for a photographer because of money or some other factor. They wished they'd collaborated with a photographer they aligned with better on style & talent. The reality is that when your wedding day is over, the resulting images are what remain.

Choose a photographer that you jive with personally and one who can deliver fabulous photos in a fun, relaxed way.

An intimate elopement at Mansion Hill Inn, in Madison. Such a charming historical mansion amidst the hustle & bustle of the city. This sweet couple opted to invited only their immediate family and exchange personal vows just down the street at Period Garden Park.

Opting to do something truly unique to their love story was perfect for them. Just because you decide to do something a bit unconventional does not mean that you can't be intentional about the elegant, bespoke details.

From my vantage point as a photographer, the best thing about intimate weddings is that the couple and I can take our time, venture to as many backdrops as we want and take the pressure off of trying to stuff a lot of creativity into a crammed period of time.

Creativity doesn't always flourish under pressure and opting for an elopement or smaller wedding with a more relaxed timeline is a perfect solution for that.
