Van Buren Youth Fair Community Rallies Around Young Exhibitor, Raising More Than $10,000
Hartford, Michigan — The Van Buren Youth Fair is proud to share an inspiring story of compassion and community that unfolded during this year's fair.
One of our young goat exhibitors had spent months raising and caring for his goats in preparation for exhibiting them at the Van Buren Youth Fair and selling them in the livestock auction. Shortly after dropping off his animals at the fairgrounds, he experienced serious medical issues and was hospitalized before the fair officially opened.
As word of his situation spread throughout the fairgrounds, the Van Buren Youth Fair community responded in an extraordinary way.
During the goat auction, fellow exhibitor families, buyers, volunteers, auction staff, and our auctioneers came together with one common goal—to support one of our own. Through their generosity and kindness, more than $10,000 was raised to help the family during this difficult time.
This incredible act of giving reflects what the Van Buren Youth Fair is truly about. While the fair celebrates agriculture, hard work, and the accomplishments of our youth, it also demonstrates the strength of a community that stands together when one of its members is in need.
