Campers, this weekend was absolute magic. The thankfulness and community presence we experienced was the perfect send off to summer. A project of this scale in it’s first year takes a village to bring to life, and it’s clear what we can accomplish together with this incredible collaboration of artists. Our first year of Wave Camp was everything our trio dreamed up and came together in a beautiful way. The response from artists, crew, team members, and attendees has been electric and we couldn’t thank you enough for all the kind words about what this festival meant to people.

When we set out on this journey, our whole goal was to spread love, make new friends, and gain lifelong memories. To us nothing else mattered. It’s safe to say we accomplished all three together.

We learned a lot from this weekend, a united vision exemplifying community values creates a space for that community to thrive. Respect and collaboration is what it’s all about! Everyone on this team stepped up in a huge way to realize the vision, and it showed in every interaction we experienced at camp.

For all of you reaching out about merch to keepsake the weekend, we have some available and will be listing it so that you can snag something to remember the weekend. Please feel free to DM us on instagram or message one of us directly.

Take care of each other in the afterglow, thank you for being a part of something we could have only dreamed of accomplishing. We’ll see you soon Campers.

Sincerely Your Camp Directors,
Zach, Wes, & Alex

Camp has a long and rich history and we’re adding a new chapter to this beautiful site. Our team is so thankful to be able to celebrate together on these grounds. Check out a bit about this festivals history before we make our own together next week!

For more than 100 years, generations of campers have called these shores home.

It all began in 1922, when Emma Graumann opened a girls’ camp called We-You-Wega on the shores of Little Bear Pond. In 1939, it became Camp Silver Birches before evolving into a boys’ camp after World War II. That’s when the name Wekeela was born, combining the Weene family name with the names of their sons, Ken and Larry.

In 1970, Wekeela became co-ed, continuing to grow while holding onto the traditions that made this place special.

In 1997, a new chapter began for Wekeela, eventually leading to new ownership in 2008 and a renewed commitment to preserving the traditions and spirit of the camp.

Today, alumni from as far back as the 1940s still return to Wekeela, reunite with old friends, and share the memories they made here.

Because Wekeela has never just been a summer camp, it’s a place where generations become part of the same story. 🌲
