Pennsylvania Dutch comfort food at its finest. 🇺🇸🔥

My wife, Ashley-Nickole Reece , made a Pennsylvania Dutch favorite for dinner tonight: Kluski — tender egg noodles tossed with cabbage and country sausage. Simple ingredients, big flavor, and the kind of meal that just feels like home.

But we took it up a notch with a little Sowers’s Hot Sauces Fatal Fatalii 🌶️🔥. That perfect hit of heat brought everything together without overpowering the dish.

Sometimes the best meals aren’t complicated. They’re just simple, comforting, and made with love. ❤️

September is here, which means fall is right around the corner… and it’s time we finally set the record straight.

APPLE > PUMPKIN. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Apple is sweet, tart, versatile, refreshing, and absolutely belongs around a smoker. 🍎🔥

Apple with pork? 🔥
Apple with chicken? 🔥
Applewood smoke? 🔥🔥🔥
Apple BBQ sauces and glazes? DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED.

Meanwhile, pumpkin needs a mountain of sugar and pumpkin spice just to convince us it tastes good. 😂

So this fall, let’s stop pretending.

My coworker asked me, “Trevor, would you actually buy another Z Grills?”

My answer? YEAH! 🔥

And after cooking on this thing, it’s easy to see why.

With 1,080 square inches of cooking space, there’s plenty of room to feed the family, the church, or the whole neighborhood. 😮‍💨🔥

On July 12th, I got takeout from Luongo BBQ | Traditional TX BBQ for the first time.

I had heard about the place, went and grabbed some food, and did what I normally do… I made a video about it. I talked about the food, gave my honest review, and shared how impressed I was.

A few weeks later, I got a message from Chuck.

He asked if I knew anyone who might be interested in helping trim briskets. I said, yeah, me.

I had no idea at the time that a simple video about some really good BBQ was about to turn into one HUGE blessing.

That conversation turned into an opportunity to work with Luongo BBQ trimming briskets and helping with cooks. But honestly, the biggest blessing hasn’t been the work.

It’s the friendship I’ve gained with Chuck and the rest of Luongo.

When I look back at how all of this happened, I can’t help but see God in it.

God has a funny way of putting people in our lives at exactly the right time. Sometimes we don’t recognize what He’s doing when the door first opens. We just take the next step, not realizing where it’s going to lead.

A BBQ takeout order.
A video.
An Instagram message.
An opportunity to trim some briskets.

And somehow, God used all of that to build a friendship and open a door I never expected.

I’ve walked through seasons where I’ve questioned what God was doing in my life and wondered what was next. But moments like this remind me that God’s timing is better than mine, and His plans are bigger than what I can see.

I’m incredibly grateful for Chuck, for Luongo BBQ, for the opportunities we’ve had to work together, and for the friendship that has come from it.

This isn’t just about BBQ.

It’s about recognizing God’s hand in the ordinary things.

Sometimes a blessing doesn’t look like a blessing when it first shows up. Sometimes it looks like a plate of BBQ and a message on Instagram.

God is good. And I’m thankful I get to see Him working in and through this.

“Commit your activities to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3

And apparently, sometimes those plans come with brisket. 😂🔥

Smoked tenderloin on the SNS Grills Kettle and Y’ALL… 🤤🔥

B&B Charcoal from Gourmet Wood Products, Inc. gave this beauty that perfect smoke flavor. Hit it with Jordan Davis’s Sweet Stuff rub and Kosmos Q Honey Killer Bee, then let the kettle do its thing.

Tender, juicy, smoky, sweet, and absolutely packed with flavor. Topped it with the last bit of Kinzie Foods | BBQ Sauce pequin! this one was SO GOOD, y’all! 🔥🐷

I need my Facebook friends to hear about the Smoking Pastor Project.

I’ve been watching what Jordan and his team of volunteers have been doing in Indiana, and honestly, it’s incredible.

In just 6 days, they have fed more than 5,000 people affected by the Indiana floods. Think about that for a minute. 5,000 people who are hurting, displaced, overwhelmed, and in need of a hot meal have been served because a group of people decided to step up and serve.

But they need help.

They need DONATIONS.
They need PRAYER.
They need VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORT.

And right now, they have a huge practical need: a truck and a van to help them get food, equipment, and supplies where they need to go.

This is the kind of mission I believe churches should rally around. This is the kind of ministry individuals can get behind. It’s not just about barbecue. It’s about using food to bring dignity, nourishment, hope, and the love of Jesus to people who need it most.

If your church is looking for a ministry to support, I would encourage you to look at the Smoking Pastor Project.

If you’re an individual who wants to make a difference, consider giving.

If you can’t give right now, pray for Jordan, his team, the volunteers, and the people they are serving.
