One of four theatres built in Hannibal, the Rialto Thearer opened in 1937 just a block from the much larger and more elaborate Orpheum Theatre. It closed in 1955 from the onslaught of the television era. In 2015, Bob and Hong Kilmer purchased the former Rialto Theatre building and the former Danancy’s Restaurant at 601 and 603 Broadway. The couple restored the building and created a banquet center
. However, on August 13, 2016, a fire destroyed the apartment building next door which caused fire, smoke and water damage. The property was then purchased by Bobby Boland, who had a vision to revitalize the historic buildings. Boland and designer Natasha Meininger completely gutted the interior surfaces and brought the adjoining buildings back to life. Today, The Rialto Banquet hall offers a space for private events for up to 320 individuals. The venue can also be used for smaller events and business meetings in The Vinyl Room which seats up to 100 individuals or The Sole Room which seats up to 200 guests. Located in Historic downtown Hannibal, Missouri, The Rialto Hall’s open concept 5,200 square ft. entertainment venue allows clients to truly customize the look and feel of the space, giving each event its own personal touch.
