Congratulations to this year’s selection of the top three essays out of 202 received from Hammonton Middle School and Folsom School students grades 6-8 in our What Memorial Day Means to Me student essay contest.
Colton Castone a sixth grader in Mr Brough’s class at HMS featured with members Pat Berenato and Arlene Calletta, took first place and proudly read his essay during the Hammonton Memorial Day Ceremony. Ella Doyle-Hemo a student in Mr Massara’s class and Christian Jeffries also from Mr Brough’s class were our second place winners. All three students received gift cards and certificates. Congratulations! Thank you to all the students that entered!!

Two of several first places finishes in the New Jersey State Federation of Woman’s Clubs Art and Culture individual entry contest winners!! Jackie DeMauro and her beautiful wreath and Ann Magann with her gorgeous handmade beaded necklace in door decoration and jewelry categories. Margie Heinz also received 1st place in photography and Susan Fognano won first place in cooking (baking non-decorated cake) for her Jewish Apple Cake. Karen Berenato took third in her holiday ornament and Pat Berenato took third in scrapbook.
This was the first time the club entered the Individual Arts and Culture Contests.

The Woman’s Civic Club of Hammonton was represented at the 2026 New Jersey State Federation of Woman’s Clubs Annual Convention held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino as part of the state Southern District. Featured with the outgoing state President Barbara McCloskey, Carole Speechley, Cape May, outgoing Southern District VP, Mary Wolfe, Vineland, State President 2018-2020, district chairmen and club presidents, the four day event brought all clubs from our 21 counties together to continue our voice in legislation and charitable works.

The “Pinwheel” reminds us that we all play an important role in children’s lives. Children should be safe in their surroundings. Congratulations to our four WES Pinwheel coloring contest winners!!

Chelsey Bonvechio Cannistra , the Hammonton Historical Society members, Woman’s Civic Club of Hammonton members, Ren MacLean from the Whitesbog Preservation Trust, Assemblyman Angelossi, Bill Parkhurst, and guests gathered at the clubhouse to discuss the life of agricultural pioneer Elizabeth Coleman White and the book “With Eager Hands”. This amazing South Jersey female native , took it a step beyond her cranberry grower family and ventured into developing the first cultivated high bush blueberries in our area.
