Balmes Flowers Gurnee will be closing its doors for a final time at the end of October approximately the 28th. We've proudly been a family run florist serving northeast Lake County since Bill and Virginia Balmes first opened in North Chicago in 1951, expanding to Gurnee in 1973. Throughout the years, their children, grand children, and even some great grandchildren participated in furthering the family tradition, and since 2013 this legacy has continued under the stewardship of Laura and John Sherrick and their daughter, Michele Balmes. It has certainly been a good long run, but current economic conditions, and the prospect of new personal opportunities bring us to this place. It has been an honor, and we are so grateful, to have been welcomed into your families’ lives, both in times of joy and sorrow, and we hope that our flowers complimented these times. Our last day for fresh flowers will be Oct. 1. We will be in the store with 50% off all artificial arrangements, décor items, vases, and display items. Stop by to shop or say goodbye.
