Top 5 horror movies: florist edition 💀🌸

AI inspiration photos that look beautiful online but aren’t actually buildable with real flowers, real mechanics, or real budgets… creating impossible and unrealistic expectations.

Pinterest boards with 500 “final” ideas that mix styles, seasons, and color palettes… making it hard to land on one clear, cohesive design. Talk about information overload!

Bridesmaid bouquets as centerpieces… and suddenly we’re in logistics chaos: who is putting them in vases, when does it happen, are your bridesmaids holding them through cocktail hour photos, and are we reworking timing and staffing just to make sure it all actually transitions smoothly?

Wedding day rain forecasts… because weather affects setup timing, floral condition, and outdoor installs, and even small changes can turn into major last-minute pivots.

Spray painted or dyed flowers… which often don’t look natural, can damage petals, and don’t hold up well in heat, light, or transport.

The funny thing is that every florist reading this has probably survived all five of these at least once 😂

There’s something so special about getting to create arrangements that step outside of the everyday! 🤩 Recently, one of our customers asked us to design an arrangement for her mom’s birthday in an ikebana style and we were INSTANTLY inspired!

Ikebana is the Japanese art of floral arranging, focused on balance, movement, negative space, and letting each stem have purpose and meaning. It’s not about filling every inch with flowers, it’s about creating emotion and artistry through intentional design.

A true florist knows flowers are more than just pretty blooms. They know how to transform even the simplest stems into living works of art, and how to design in styles from all around the world. We loved getting the chance to slow down, get creative, and bring this beautiful vision to life✨🫶🏼👏🏼😍

Every once in a while we look at our camera roll and think… maybeeeee it’s time to delete some photos. 😅😳

Then we scroll. And it’s arrangement after arrangement… weddings, birthdays, sympathy pieces, everyday bouquets… each one a little different from the last. So we keep them. Because every single one represents time, care, and a design we were proud to create. We take a lot of pride in what we create, so of course we end up taking a photo of almost everything that leaves the shop 🫶🏼😍👏🏼

Moms are pretty incredible. The love, patience, and selflessness it takes to be a mom is something you don’t fully understand until you really stop and think about it. They’re the ones who show up for everything, put everyone else first, and somehow make it all look effortless 🫶🏼

And “mom” doesn’t always just mean the woman who gave birth to you. It can be a stepmom, a mother-in-law, an aunt, a mentor, or someone who simply stepped in and loved you like their own. And we can’t forget about grandmas, because they somehow manage to be moms all over again, just with a little extra spoiling! 😂

Nothing says Kentucky Derby quite like a table full of beautiful red roses!! 🌹🏇😍

Last year we had the honor of creating these centerpieces for a 50th birthday party with a Kentucky Derby theme, and they were the PERFECT finishing touch to pull everything together. 💋 Classic red roses with baby’s breath and silver mint julep cups… simple, elegant, and unmistakably Derby-inspired. 👌🏼 Flowers are one of the easiest ways to bring a theme to life, and these arrangements made every table feel ready for race day.

Some flowers are grown and shipped to move as cheaply and quickly as possible while others are carefully sourced, fresher, and handled properly from the moment they arrive. That difference affects EVERYTHING! How long they last, how they open, and how they look in an arrangement.

At Dannette’s and other brick and mortar flower shops, we’re selecting better varieties, processing them correctly, and designing them with intention. You’re not just paying for flowers, you’re paying for quality blooms, proper care, and the experience behind the design. 👍🏼

And if there’s anyone who deserves the world, it’s moms 🫶🏼💐 They show up for everything, do a million things no one sees, and somehow still make it all look easy. Since we can’t quite give them the whole world, flowers are a pretty great place to start 😏🌸

And one more important thing… please, please, PLEASE shop local. 🤍 Avoid third-party companies like FTD, 1-800-Flowers, Ava’s Flowers, Blooms Today, and similar services!!! They take your order and your money, then send it to a local florist at a much lower price than what you paid. They’re simply the middleman. When you shop directly with a local florist (couch cough… us ☺️), you know exactly where your money is going, you support a small business, and you get the most value for your order. Flowers can be expensive, and we want to make sure you get the most bang for your buck 🌼
