Good Sunday morning everyone,
I cannot believe that I haven’t posted on here since early January. Time really does slip away fast. We’ve had quite a winter to say the least; maybe not the snow that we may have expected, but certainly the cold temps have kept us inside as much as possible.
Lyla and I were able to took off for a few days and make our way down to Florida to get out of the cold. It was a nice break for us, and we had a great time spending it with my cousin Mary and her husband Bob who have a place there. We pretty much have been trying to get down there to see them for quite a while, but our schedules never seemed to be the same. We were happy that it worked out this time and certainly we’re hopeful that we can do it again next winter or maybe even sooner.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell everyone, but today is the big day we have all been waiting for. Now it would have been so much sweeter if our football team was participating in the game, but it just didn’t work out that way. They still had a great year, but geez all those injuries finally caught up. I’m not disappointed at all.
Things for both of us surely have been so much different. I’ve been on a pretty regular schedule at work, mixed in with some nice days off in between. Lyla took the month of January off, which was something that the doctor ordered as they say. We kept pretty busy. We both tackled a well needed painting project at the house, and Lyla ordered a couple of new chairs for our living room, which somehow ended up in our family room, then back into the living room once again. I hope they stay there.
Have a great Sunday everyone, and quite honestly it doesn’t matter to me who wins that game today, as long as it’s not that team from Kansas City. I’m just hoping that we don’t run out of chicken wings!!
Talk to you soon. Bill, Lyla and family.

Good Sunday morning everyone,
First and foremost, Happy New Year. We hope that everyone had a great holiday. We had a great holiday. Certainly different, post Lylas if you will, but certainly very enjoyable and relaxing.
I thought I would stick with tradition and keep everyone updated maybe not every Sunday, but here and there. Normally at this time, I would be telling you that Lyla is waking me up and getting me ready to get our day started so that we can get things ready for the week ahead, but not anymore. Now our days have certainly been a little more relaxing and less hectic. I managed to have a great mix of a few days off here and there from my job, which has been really nice, but now moving forward it looks like things will be getting back to normal. The winter seems to always slow down things a bit and understandably so.
Today, our plan is to get Mark back to Chicago so he can get the next part of his school year going. He had a really long break, but he told us he’s ready to go back, see his friends and get back into class. Wow, I never thought I would hear him say that.
Moving forward, Lyla and I plan on heading out of town for a quick break from the cold very soon. Although, Lyla hasn’t quite narrowed down what she will be doing, she’s the type that’s anxious to do something sooner rather than later. Quite honestly, I think she’s happy watching me put on my winter jacket and head off to work, for a little while longer, and I’m ok with that. I’m going to continue to take my Sundays and Mondays off, which I’ve really become used to. I feel so old though, because lately my Mondays have been relegated to dentist and doctor visits. Hey, you have to get them done at some point.
Well, take care everyone. Oh just to let you know, since Lyla stopped cooking at Lylas, she hasn’t started cooking at home yet. I’m still waiting with my fork and knife firmly in hand. Take care everyone. Hopefully we will see you around town.

Good Sunday morning everyone,
Wow, what can we say but thank you for all the support, love and encouragement as we venture forward into a new direction. We are so thankful for everyone that has stopped by over these last few weeks. Also, thanks to those who brought farewell gifts and flowers. These gestures are appreciated more than you know. As we wrap up these last couple of days, we will be carrying on the memories and the new friends and acquaintances that we made over the last 11 years. From our family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I promise as time permits, I will continue to write these posts just to say hello.
Thank you.

Good Sunday morning everyone,
It’s a little change of pace waking up to raindrops on a December morning, but you won’t hear any complaints from me. I’ll be honest, I do miss the sunshine.
Again, I really want to thank everyone for making last weeks fundraiser for the warming center so successful. We mentioned it many times, but I know that we live in a community that is so generous. It always has been that way, and I know it will continue to be that way for many years to come.
A week from Tuesday, marks the end of this chapter in our lives. We are overwhelmed by all the kind words over these past few weeks.
I want to get you up to speed, so to speak about what’s going to be happening over the next week. This upcoming week, business hours will remain the same. During the week, we will be winding down many of the specialty items that we normally carry, and focus our attention on the orders that need to be taken care of. Orders for the holiday will end on Thursday, December 19th. We will not be making any extra meat or spinach pies on Monday, the 23rd or on Christmas Eve. These items will only be available by special order. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have. Also, we will be open on Monday, December 23rd and on Tuesday, December 24th. Again, many menu items will likely be limited.
Have a great Sunday everyone. Lions and Bills this afternoon. This has to be the best game of the regular season that you can wish for.

THANKS EVERYONE BUT WE ARE SOLD OUT!! THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT FOR THIS GREAT CAUSE. HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON.
Oh what a week we both had. Lyla was very busy taking care of lots of Holiday orders, and I was busy shuffling lots of people all around the greater Detroit area. One thing we both look forward to is having these days off.
I was talking to one of my coworkers last night, and he was telling me that he has family who live in Ga***rd, and since Thanksgiving they have had almost 5 feet of snow. I was quick to tell him that they certainly are welcome to keep all of it up there and not to do us any favors and send anything our way. I hope that works. Seriously though they need it up there. Those ski lodges and snow mobile people have really had a long drought these past couple of years. I never was either a skier or snow mobile person so I wouldn’t understand. Heck I used to ice fish, why I have no idea. Who would have “thunk” that all along I could have just gone to the fish market and had all the choices I would ever need in life.
It’s hard to imagine but this Wednesday, December 11th is our final Wednesday night dinner forever. I remember when we started these. We were probably open for about a year and my cousin John gave us the idea. I don’t know what we did first, but I remember selling like 30 dinners and we were so excited. Well thanks to everyone it just grew from there. A funny anecdote to this. We had a customer named Gil, who would stop in every Wednesday and ask. “How many dinners do you have tonight?” We would tell him and he was like wow, that’s a lot. We swore that he probably kept a logbook of them, and when we retired he was going to hand it over to us. Sadly, Gil passed away earlier this year, but something tells me he’s keeping an eye on us from above.
Alright let’s get to it. Be prepared to feast on Lasagna!! Not just any Lasagna though. This one is really prepared from everyone’s heart, because for only $10.00 per meal that you buy, 100% of that money is going to the Saint Peter and Paul warming center to help others less fortunate. I think we have been doing this for 4 or 5 years now, and it’s been a huge success thanks to you. Oh, along with your Lasagna, you’ll receive a salad, garlic bread and Tiramisu for dessert.
Just a heads up. We only have enough room for so many trays of Lasagna, so climb aboard fast. It’s first come, first served. I believe in the movie Talladega nights the line was “If you’re not first you’re last!!”
Have a great day everyone. Oh, one more thing. I know that I haven’t been around much, but I really want to say thanks for everything these past 11 years. See you soon.
SOLD OUT? THANK YOU.

Good morning everyone,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that for most are enjoying the long weekend to boot. What a Friday it turned out to be on the roads. If any of you had the misfortune of being on either the Lodge freeway, I-96 or I-94; all I can say is what a nightmare that was. I’m sure I was not the only one asking “Where are all the salt trucks?” Anyways, hopefully if any of you dealt with any of that, you ended up safely arriving to your destination.
Lyla and Mark surprised me by doing all of the shopping yesterday for the week ahead at Lylas. That was really nice. Not to complain, but I had a very long week. I’m ready for a little bit of rest. Lyla said she didn’t really want to deal with the craziness of Costco yesterday, so I told her that we will go together and push people out of the way!! If we see any of you there, don’t worry you’re safe.
My weekly local sports update this week shows the Lions at 11-1. Thursdays game was a little bit dicey at the end, but the Thanksgiving day losing streak came to an end and that’s all that matters. How about Michigan beating that Columbus, Ohio team? Never saw that happening, and that’s why folks I never bet on sports. The Red Wings and Pistons look Ok? It’s early for both of those teams, so not much to say. And our Tigers. I’m sure those guys are somewhere warm.
Ok, last Sunday, or maybe it was before that, I don’t remember but I said that the Wednesday night dinner was going to return this week. At that time this was true, but since that post we have received so many orders for holiday parties this week, that unfortunately we can no longer have a dinner this week. Don’t worry, we only planned on serving leftover Turkey, Ham and mashed potatoes anyways. Next Wednesday, December 11th will be our final dinner, and most of you know what that will be, but I’ll keep others in suspense.
Have a great remainder of your weekend. Stay warm. My darn zipper on my new jacket broke yesterday!! Hopefully it’s under warranty. Looking outside I see sunshine. Boy, that’s nice to see. See you soon.

Good morning everyone,
Amazingly the holiday season is upon us. It’s bittersweet since this will be our last at Lylas. We know we are going to miss you, but Lyla and I are certainly looking forward to what our future holds.
I want to let you know that Lylas will be closed Thursday, November 28th through Monday, December 2nd and we will reopen at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd.
Lylas is going to be here to take care of anything that you need for the upcoming Holidays. Please call us or check out our website for our offerings.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Good morning everyone,
I hope that your week has gotten off to a great start. Hey, another Lions win is always good to see. Let’s move on to the next game.
I have a real early start Tuesday morning, but I promised Lyla that I would tell you about the meals we will have ready when we open up at 11. Let’s start off with some marinated pork tenderloin with Spanish rice and roasted potatoes. Next we have Italian Sausage with potatoes and sautéed peppers. Third, how about Chicken Piccata with potatoes. And, we can’t forget about the Swedish meatballs with egg noodles.
Lyla also made a new round of her rice pudding. Please, if you’re looking for any of these, call the store after 11 and we will be happy to hold them for you if we have them. Please do not reply on this page or through messenger.
Thanks and have a great Tuesday.

SORRY EVERYBODY BUT THIS WEEKS DINNER IS SOLD OUT. I WILL BE RESPONDING TO EVERYONE. THANK YOU.
Rumor has it that it takes a good frost to get all of the leaves off of our trees. Now, I know we are all appreciative of this fairly mild weather, but if you’re outside with your rake in hand, you will be standing there for a little while longer. But I will make one request to my wonderful neighbors. When your leaves do fall, please keep them on your side.
We were expecting our son Mark to arrive home from school for his winter break yesterday, but he called us last week; yes I said called us and not texted us and asked if he could return home today instead. It was for a very good reason. He didn’t want to miss an end of semester going away party!! Sounds like a good reason to me. We definitely look forward to seeing him.
Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. My cousin Steve and his wife Wendy graciously, hmmm I don’t know if graciously is in Steve’s vocabulary, but anyways they invited our family to join them Thanksgiving day. It’s going to be a great time. Always look forward to getting together with family on the holidays.
I’m not quite sure what we have planned for today, but I know that we are going to mass this morning. I think we will forego any store duties today, and put them off until tomorrow. Oh and of course, we have to watch the Lions game. I’m going to bring out my true irrational Lion fan behavior. “You know they would be 9-0 if they didn’t lose to Tampa Bay” Theirs always that guy who says those dumb things and questions wins. It’s not me!!
Anyways, join us Wednesday, November 20th for City Chicken. Along with 2 skewers of City Chicken, you’ll receive a generous serving of Scalloped Potatoes, coleslaw, garlic toast and a nice slice of Apple Pie. All of this for only $16.99.
Have a great day everyone. If I don’t respond right away, don’t worry I will get back with you.
Oh, real quick. The Wednesday night dinner takes a hiatus on November 27th, but returns on Wednesday, December 4th.
SOLD OUT. SOLD OUT. THANK YOU.

Good morning everyone,
I know it’s cold and rainy this morning, but Lyla just called me to tell me that she made a few extra Chicken Pot Pies that will be available hot out of the oven after 11 a.m. I know that a lot of people were asking about them, but due to to capacity we weren’t able to take everyone’s orders for last night dinners, but this is your chance.
Have a great day.
