Whether they're getting ready for their first babysitting job or simply building valuable life skills, this one-day training gives young caregivers the confidence to handle real-world situations.

Students will learn CPR and first aid, childcare essentials, home-alone safety, and emergency response through hands-on instruction from Live Safe Academy. Those enrolled in the babysitter course can also add on our Pet Sitter Training to become certified to care for furry family members, too.

A global recognition with a meaningful local connection.

The recent inscription of the Normandy D-Day Beaches as a UNESCO World Heritage Site brings global recognition to one of history's most significant places of remembrance.

Standing on Omaha Beach is Les Braves, created by French artist Anilore Banon. In 2023, The War Memorial was honored to become home to Les Braves II: At Water's Edge, making The War Memorial home to the only official twin of the original sculpture anywhere in the world.

Though separated by an ocean, both sculptures carry the same enduring message of Hope, Freedom, and Fraternity, a message that continues to inspire visitors on the shores of both Normandy and Lake St. Clair.

The Guardian's coverage of the UNESCO designation features Les Braves at Omaha Beach, highlighting the monument's enduring significance and the lasting legacy of the D-Day landings.

The Junior League of Detroit Gardeners brings a patriotic retreat to Plot 3, celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with a vibrant red, white, and blue design.

A striped border, blue star, colorful blooms, and a peaceful bench create a space to rest, relax, and reflect. Thoughtful details, including a water station for birds and insects, highlight the connection between garden beauty and nature.

The Annual Trial Gardens, presented by the Grosse Pointe Garden Center, are located on the grounds of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Visit the gardens to experience each garden club’s unique interpretation of this year’s theme. 🌺

Every parent wants their teen to become a safe, confident driver.

Learning to drive is about more than passing a test. It's about developing the judgment and habits that lead to a lifetime of safe driving. Through our longtime partnership with Grosse Pointe Driving School, The War Memorial offers Drivers Training that provides the classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel experience, and guidance students need to succeed through every step of Michigan's graduated licensing process.

New Segment 1 and Segment 2 sessions begin August 10, and registration is now open.
